Landcruiser 100 s aerial

Post by lump_a_charcoal »

Are the electric aerials on 100 series meant to retract flush, or only stick out about 100mm?

Hi, just fitted a new post to one the other day, they should sit flush, if it is getting power acc still on it will sit where its set and can be adjusted with the up and down button, but sometimes will not sit totally flush until key is turned all the way off,

OK I guess mine was sticking a bit -
I snapped it off last week up at Zig Zag, I was hoping that the new Toyota one would sit flush so it doesn't happen again.

Anyone replaced an aerial before? Is it difficult at all?

Hi, if it just the arial mast thats brocken theres no need to replace the whole Arial, the masts are available at most Autolecs or Evil Ebay for about $35 delivered,
its not a hard job depending on wether the nylon cord is brocken or not,
you can check that buy measureing you old against new,
just unscew the locking nut power your arial up and it will come completely out,
if its short (nylon serated cord) it may be brocken off inside the motor,
pull arial out unscrew motor backing plate pull brocken pieces out replace arial, insert new post power down, JOB DONE

Yah the nylon inside is still ok, it still drives in and out, however when allowed to extend fully, it if floppy. The last segment is floppy.

Thanks for you help.

So to clarify, I can just undo the nut, drive the old aerial out and drive the new one back it?

yep, thats correct, but it wont fully retract untill the ignition is turned off, wind the up button fully up till it stops, feed the new cord in (helps if you have two people) when it bottoms then wind down, then you should be right to go
