ct26 rebuild to hiflow or not

ok so i need to get the turbo rebuilt on the old cruiser, so my question is should i get it hi flowed while it is getting rebuilt and if so should i get the supra or to4 compressor wheel fitted. and is the power and torque that more noticeable


not worried about price but any info on what people have paid would be good

I personally dont have a turbo'd vehicle but i have spoken to a few people about it and they rekon the GT2876rs (disco potato) is the way to go. 1hdt i assume?

1hz/hdt flow rate match very well with the disco potato.

do your homework first and get firm prices, from inquiries I have made, you would get a ballbearing Garrett for around the same money as hiflowing the CT-26. Better performance and better reliability too.

how much is a ball bearing garret worth have been quoted 1200 to have the ct26 rebuilt and hi flowed with a supra compressor wheel

You can pick a Garret up for around 1200-1500 acrons. However, you'll prob need some fitting and what not to fit it.

the supra compressor wheels and compressor housings are basically bolt on, this will give higher airflow than the std landcruiser CT-26, but its not really a hi flowed turbo.

I'd say ask more questions of what you are really getting for $1200.


I know of guys with hiflowed CT-26 using Garret and mitsubishi compressor wheels which give greater flow, but require machining of the toyota housing

yeah he said with fitting the supra wheel he would have to machine the housing he also said he could fit the garret wheel but he was thinking that it would bring the working range of the turbo up higher in the rev range

the guy selling that is a member on here.

it would need the landcruiser exhaust housing to be any good on the cruiser.

With supra turbine housing it will spool too high in the rev range

GT2871R

.64 A/R housing will spool up low in the rev range, it should give good power from not much above idle, it may run out of puff at the top end?
.86 will need higher revs to get it to spool up fully and will produce results at the higher revs.

thanks for that delirious now i have another turbo option to think about.
now do i go the gt2860r
gt2871r
gt2876r
or something else. the only difference between the 2860 and the 2871 is the comp wheel is bigger on the 2871. which out of these 2 i think i would go for the 2871 for the bigger comp wheel. now all i have to do is look at the 2876 specs

also does anyone have the ct26 turbo specs ie turbine size comp size and so on.

Its hard to find info on the toyota turbos.

there is other info on this website, I havent found any published A/R figures for CT26 so it is a little hard to compare.

The disco potato GT28RS gets mentioned a lot as a good match for 4.2deisel.
From what I have read I was thinking either the GT2871R or GT2876R would be a good match, but I dont know enopugh to be sure. Both are bigger than GT28RS. .64 A/R would help them spool at low RPM, there is different versions of these with different trim and A/R.
