No doubt there are now plenty out there running performance chips in there 4X4 diesels,
so has anyone back to back tested these chips,
i have a 79 series RV and have just ordered a 3inch Beaudesert exhaust today,
and my next step is a chip,
at the moment ive narrowed down to a DP 34 (thanks Dan)
and a DTronic,
has anyone tryed these or others??????

Chip
I am running a Dtronic in my 79 comp ute. I used to swap into my tow ute but the plugs don't like being plugged in and out and caused a few low power problems. Overall happy with the chip untill something better comes along.
For that engine, Stienboaer or Dtronic, you want something that changes what the ECu see's, rather than wires into the pump wiring to change the voltage t the pump [the current version of turning the fuel screw up, and easily made with parts from Jaycar for <$50]
We get within 2 kw with the above mentioned with intercooler and bigger exhaust with either set up.
You also want it to plug in, not hard wire in.
Some good reading here

Supercharged 80 SOLD - "OPERATION SANDY" now in effect.
Thanks Assasin, very heavy reading, is there such a thing as a safer or better developed chip, as the last thing i want is issues due to wanting more power, i think we all want more power but reliabilty is more iomportant on those long trips,
and i would like to keep oil changes and fuel usage as close to normal,
One thing i noticed on the DP was the extra settings which after reading may get you into a little trouble where the Dtronic is straight up,
Im happy to buy either chip recommended, but would prefer the safer option even if it means less power

I personally am going to buy a DP when i have the coin... you just cant beat a 5 year replacement warranty (they will replace your vehicle for up to 5 years if it is a result of the chip)
they will also tune it for a little bit more power if you want i believe (to a point)

turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown
