Thanks for the info man, I myself like to pay for what is done and only what is done, and I also expect great service, if I dont get it, I will bitch and moan to who ever will listen to me, I dont condone any of the posts I have read and think it is great that we can vent off in a forum to who ever is willing to read. I cant stand shitty workmanship, lies, etc.

On the other side of the fence, I myself quote repairs, and at the end of the day a business pays me to make money for them, So at the point of writing a cheap quote and making someone happy, will most likely bite me on the balls, So I do have to watch that what I have quoted is done, on time and on budget. Things can be unforseen, but that is the nature of the game, it is nice to at least let an owner he needs to pay X to get Y done.

Just do your home work, if you can get your parts cheaper, tell them that you will supply your own parts, or ask them to match it.

i dont mind spending the money as long as its what you got quoted for and as long as its done properly. in my case neither of them happened plus other things and it all adds up to not a happy. :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words:

Thanks to many but not all! I appreciate that there are some people willing to recognise the importance of getting what your paying "TOP" dollar for.... - And expecting the job to be done right the first time - and as per quote.

If its your profession its not too hard to work on cars and predict what its going to cost, to do the job. If I fu%6k up my job, I kill someone... It seems as if many of these guys just hand over the bill, and are happy to let you walk away unhappy- its also seems as if they will never lose on a job to keep a customer happy, knowing they would return.

by the sound of things, maybe I was misquoted on the 300 ish dollar kit. REGARDLESS - Coventry auto all the time has been spot on price for me, and I talk to the same guy every time I go there, and admittedly he has done trade price without me knowing several times.

great service, great customer satisfaction, the right price.
I go back and I go back, and everyone I tell about, goes there too!

Repco prices and service, well thats another story.

Thanks for everyones input, looks like I might have a tinker with the pump after the injectors are done.

......
also!...
Too bad people are too shy to tell their stories online, maybe if people were more open and vocal, these guys would realise the damage they are causing to their businesses? and maybe clean up their act.

Forums are powerful business avenues, look at ryan at fourbies! There is someone using their brain. I have lost count of the people I have told to go to fourbies and see him about tires.

This is a privately owned forum - we have rules etc to comply to. Sometimes people/businesses DO get bagged and shown for what they are, but generally it isn't really a "done thing" on here.

If in doubt, you can always send a PM and ask someone for more detail, such as Pongo. AFAIK, PM's are unregulated (within reason eg racism/abuse).

Totally a fair call,

I just dont forget, the mechanics/businesses who take the time to do things right, and stand by their name and quotes, and communicate well with their customer, earn huge amounts of business thru forum discussion in the form of positive feedback!

IMOO - Take the good with the bad - obviously. However, why should we allow fellow 4 wheel drivers to fall into the same traps over and over, because its not the 'done thing' to say things as they are?

Sounds like a bit of sour grapes. The fact they contacted you to discuss your concerns means they must care about there customers.

After several dealings with AMMS for both 4x4's and other cars as well they are very professional. Our GU (4.2) was tuned over at AMMS and come out perfect - they even put it back on the Dyno a couple weeks later free of charge as I was a little concerned it was over boosting. Nothing is a problem for any of those guys at all.

Sounds like you were expecting a Rolls Royce service on a Kia budget and now have sour grapes!

haha, outa interest how much did you pay to get your cars tuned? I have since had many Pm's and looked around heaps and spoken to many mechanics, and have heard of far better service, and far better value deals being done, with extremely happy results, without paying 1400 dollars...

2ndly I think you missed his whole point.
They contacted him, admitted they were at fault, and made no attempt to rectify the situation.

I dont think he expected a Rolls Royce, he just expected to get what he paid for lol. AS does everyone!

But it is good to hear you walked away happy!

Any business that has a dyno and is good at what they do really should offer to do 3 runs, measuring power, torque, boost and a/f ratios, an extra would be egt's. This should cost no more than $200. From there you should be able to tell what is wrong, make comparisons to other same vehicles, the areas to look at and the costs involved, all before anything is pulled apart.

Either party can then go forward or not. This can be all done in the initial phone call if necessary. Both parties know where they stand.

Its what I would do to anyone with a problem like yours. Its very hard to cost something until you know what area is wrong and then carry out further inspection, testing or dismantling.

yobbo1975 theres no sour grapes if they did a good job i would write good things. since having my car at amms early this year and getting a bad tune iv cracked the head. now im not saying that they are the reason that it happened just that it probably didnt help. oh and paying $470 for a dyno run is crap.
