Crappy pics due to losing the light, and please ignore the disgusting condition of my garden and the fresh power steering fluid stain on my driveway
Pretty damn happy with the trailer. Can feel it behind the Zook, but not much at all. Someone not used to driving my car honestly would probably not twig that they had a trailer on. Very settled over bumps, actually helps stabilise the rear of the Zook on bumpy corners IMHO, only a touch more required on the brakes, and minimal affect on acceleration (certainly not 'sluggish' compared to normal).
Only real telltale is I need to drop gears on hills about 10km/h sooner (ie 90km/h 5th gear hill becomes 90km/h 4th gear or 80km/h 5th gear).
Has been done SOA which should be about perfect once I have my OME springs and 31's under the Zook.

Cos it fits my needs. 5x3 is almost perfect size for a rooftop tent to sit on, fits 4 plastic storage boxes front and rear for easy access (2 wide, 2 high) and should be a heap lighter than a 7x4 as per your example. Also has better rampover and departure, and should be easier to pull thru the rough stuff. Besides, I needed to complete my scale set - Zook, 420 sailing dingy and tiny trailersheps wrote:why such a small trailer?

Well i just ordered my pod trailer, should be ready in 4-5 weeks. Ready for a west oz trip in september.
Yes theyre expensive, but i dont need tarps and it wont be getting wet and dusty in there either i look at it a long term thing. its likely to outlast the zook unless i smash it.
And it is multi purpose, the top can come off and be turned into a tub trailer.
Ive gone the standard pod with a galv frame, jerry holders and gas ring.
Although i was unable to view one here in south oz because the adelaide dealer hasnt got anymore in and may not get another.
A quick email to stockman products and a reply was back quicksmart and it said a money back guarantee if i was unhappy

I get enough dust in the back of the softtop, so i needs a dust proof trailer for my gear.
Your trailer is great for the price, i did look at moderns and brooks and even tregs. they were all around the same price for a similer size trailer.
Its just the whole waterproof/dustproof thing that helps, especially when i'm going to be travelling on alot of dirt roads.

Pods are great
Went okay with the tarps on mine with some fairly heavy rain on the way over. Had a 6x8 tarp under the gear, turned up at the sides and roped into position, then some clear plastic from around a newly delivered matress over that and turned down at the sides. That was a 'sealed' capsule taking up the front half of the trailer.
Put my tools, jack and jerry cans at the rear of the trailer where they were accessible from the rear swing gate and tarped over the whole trailer, bringing the tarp right down the front and roping it in place. Also sealed the front swing door joints with cloth tape.
Worked a treat! Jerries were easy to get to and none of our clothes got wet

Total cost $1470 incl. GST, and total weight 220kg.
Going to F100 hubs would have cost around $500 extra as apparently upgraded springs, axle and guards are required.
Checkerplate floor only added 3 kilos over 1.6 rolled steel and should give the trailer a fair bit more rigidity, so I stuck with checkerplate.

Hmmm. Never quite got back to posting the fitted up pics, did I? Took it out for it's first use over Easter and it was just brilliant. Takes me 4 minutes to set up / pack the tent by myself, or 2 minutes with someone helping.
Crap photo (taken in the rain) but this is on the weekend at Mt Barker, WA. Rained most of the weekend and didn't get a drop inside the tent
Have it set up in the back yard tonight to dry the canvas out so will take some better pics tomorrow. The shelter is a cheapy I picked up from BCF that was surprisingly waterproof too!
