with the interest from the 3 towns in the 3 car event. perhaps a 3 round series mackay, rocky, gladstone, (share the organising around) points based run what you brung racing, with handicap system for the big trucks

just throwin it out there for thought to the big guns of event organising perhaps

Top truck was the best event i"ve seen in cq definitely needs to be run again. No times, just points based scoring to sort out who can drive what. Maybe if the cqoffroad club got a bit more of a push from people askin about it they'd try and do something about it. Because watching a car winch wall after wall is boring the heck out of me. GRAB SECOND AND HAVE A REAL GO!!
Bring on more Offraod Cartel events...... Although i heard a rumor the guys who ran the last one are just to slack to organize another one........ hehehe

i know its copying but you cant beat the tuff truck formula. sponsers have their own event, gives a little more exposure. less tracks more cars is a little more spectator friendly.

we all love a winch challange but ya right deano, a bit of flat to the boards bounce ya way up for 100 points action would be a good change to see.

im definetly not saying anything negative about any xwc or 3 car event just think there is a market for something ............DIFFERENT

Giggles did you hit a nerve?

I think you'll find Jas that the people would be prepared to step up to the plate and run some of these style of smaller events if the politics weren't simply over whelming at this point.
I have and would put my hand up again if there were clear rules and regs put into place that everyone could work with in the club... at the moment these don't exist and the fear of persecution is what is holding more than a few members of the club back from running some of these events... or even being in the club to start off with.
And NO disrespect is meant with this statement at current event organisers with in the club. It is truely the one of the best events ever the 3 car and everyone that's into competing or thinking of competing should do it once. It's just the current guidelines don't seem to work for a smaller event like Top Truck where marshall's were very difficult to recruit and (at the time) guidelines were minimal, resulting in miscommunication.
Once these very minor issues are resolved I think you will start seeing the return of smaller events at a club level...

Anyway I think in the next few years people will indeed be running events in the local area that are of a great level and easy to watch/compete in!
You will get to use your new rig Jas don't worry about that!!!!!

Good times ahead
Whoo Whoo!!!

hey guys and girls

the point is if all you fellas got in and helped to do the guide lines and work with the politicions to make all this possible you would then get a lot more helpers to do the events.
I know this as I have struggled to make numbers of people to marshall for the challenge every year.
So for all these events to happen you guys need to step up and be the real lovers of the sport that you R and help to make it happen .
life is full off rules and regulation fellas so learn to work with them not against.

I am not here to argue I am just stating the obvios.
more hands make light work.

cheers jason

digsy when the top truck was ran the sport wasnt as big as it is now.. so i think there shouldnt be an issue if you ran something again .. i know plenty of people that would be keen to help out .. just no one wants to get tied up in all the club politics and crap that the rocky club involves from what i have heard from former and current members the ones that are still in it.. anyway just want a run what ya got points challenge sort of set up.. plus ive never seen a call for helpers on outers or anywhere ??? for the cq rounds

heck yeah your spot on.... and i really hope that all the people that come to our place get involved with the CQ Offroad event... had an ablsoute ball the last 3 years at the event (first year on the mic, just quietly can talk it up after a few drinks to help loosen me up, and last 2 years as a competitor) its one of the best run and best organised events in Qld for sure... no sitting around and waiting to get onto your stage, and i think there is alot we can learn from these guys and how they run there event cause it is tip top... The Team orgaising do an amazing job every year, espically with the size of the field turning up all wanting to go racing and do well...

Ok here we go - I was the one that actually invited all the Officials to the thank you dinner who helped out in 2008 - it has been brought to my attention that I may have overlooked ONE person to invite, that I know of - this was NOT intentional, as it was not brought to my attention that he had helped out. I do apologise to those people for the oversight, and will make contact with them to apologise. If everyone would appreciate it is a huge task running an event of this size, and things do get overlooked, but rest assured there will be measures in place to ensure that this does not happen again. The CQ Challenge has evolved over the 3 years and mistakes have been made every year and have been rectified for subsequent events. I am a member of the CQ Off Road Club and yes there are politics involved in the CQ Off Road Club, along with EVERY club/organisation that I have ever been involved in. We all need to be careful as to what we class as Politics as a lot are only Guide Lines to how Clubs/Events are run. The Club does have guide lines on how to run an event - one being the most important is reporting to the Club Committee for Guidance / Support and Experience. Granted, I do think that these need to be in writing and I will make a formal request to organise a committee to put this in writing. So if you are interested in running an event/s come along & be involved. This is an important step in growing our sport for the future. If you want your suggestions / thoughts heard - be actively involved - I am very passionate about our sport - I get out there and make things happen and make a difference. I don't rely on comments made over the internet and heresay. These views that I have put forward are my own and not those of the CQ Off Road Club! I would like to take this opportunity to thank those involved in the CQ Challenge, from the committee members to officials and anyone that helps out as I do realise that it all takes a huge commitment and takes time away from their family/personal life. Cheers Brad
