2jz + sierra = possable??
2jz + sierra = possable??
it might be a long shot but would it be possable? and once it is fitted and running wat chance has the drive line got of handeling it?
seirra, ute chop, air locked 60 series diffs, 4-link rear, 3 link front, 35's,18" fox air shoxs, h.i.d's, 6hp high mount,
You can only ever use as much horsepower as you have traction.
On a wet track, a 1.0 with 36Kw and 30:1 crawl can spin all 4 wheels easily.
How much power do you think you need- which is another way of saying how much traction can you generate with a sierra?
On tarmac, you can generate lots of traction, so it might be fine. On sand, with paddles, you can pretty much use all the HP you can generate.
Everywhere else, I can't see the the point.
PS a 2JZ won't be fitting in the engine bay - be prepared for it to come a fair way into the interior, along with a fair stretch in the wheelbase to balance it all out.
I'd start with a hilux - whilst it's a struggle even for them, at least they have compatible gearbox/transfer and diffs, and enough weight/wheelbase to have a hope of using the HP.

The 2j sure is a nice donk, but the size limitations are what kills it in this instance.
The standard 4cylinder north/south engine doesnt leave a lot of room at either end. Add 2 extra pots on and you're out of room.
And the 2j is on the larger end of straight sixes. You'd lost a foot of interior space. Something sierras have in short supply to begin with.

There was a guy in indo running a 1jz in a diahatsu rocky i think it was in the rainforest challenge, its on youtube somewhere.
The only way i would condone so much power in a zook was if it was lower, wider and longer than stock, ive had my old one up to 140 (downhill with tailwind) and it was terrifying.

yeah every one has a very good point and it would be a BIG job to do and to do it right, i had a look at the one being done on pirate 4x4 and he has pretty much made a new front half of the chassis
