(Vic) Engel Round 4

Post by Unlimited Industries »

Myself and the team from Offroader.com.au are pleased to announce the dates and location for the grand finale of the Engel series.

Details are, 16,17,18th of October at a brand new never seen before property in Noojee.

Dinner will be at the "Outpost", http://www.theoutpostretreat.com/index.html and we will be camping less than 600m away.

The camp ground is caravan friendly for those who are too old for tents and swags

The event website, http://www.engelround4.com.au/ will be updated soon with information as we get it along with working bee dates, site photos and competitors that are entered.

Ross and I were out there today setting out the tracks and winched 12 times just getting around the property, very steep and heavily vegetated.

Stay tunned for more!

Bryan.

Is anything ever 'definite' with this series???

HOT OFF THE PRESS

Post by offroader.com.au »

Press Release
Get the winches ready, the tyre pressures set and the
Comp truck ready to roar.
Round 4 of the 2009 Engel Challenge Series officially announced.
Dates are finalized, location is set and a new organizing team is in
place to tackle the challenges of the final round.
Noojee, Victoria, 16th-18th October, 2009: With the location for the final round of the Engel
challenge series now finalized we wish to advise all on the details of the event. Round 4 sees the series
return to the eastern side of Victoria being based in Noojee. Noojee is situated 107Km’s east of
Melbourne in the Baw Baw Shire, for round 4 a new property has been sourced for the event which will
provide new and challenging terrain for all competitors of the event. The event will be running over three
days with the Sunday being open to the general public to attend as spectators.
The Engel Challenge Series is a 4 round series for Four Wheel Drive winch trucks (modified 4WD’s)
most of the 4WD’s competing in the event are dedicated competition trucks with teams of two being a
Navigator and Driver working together to tackle a number of stages across the weekend. Stages are
layed out with an emphasis on challenging the handling, maneuverability and pure raw power of the
vehicles whilst challenging the navigator and driver of the team’s physical endurance with torturous terrain
involving water crossings, hill climbs, traversal of deep ruts large rocks and generally punishing tracks.
This being the final round for the series in 2009 and more than one team sitting close with points for
Podium placing the competition should be fierce and the winning place is still well and truly open to any
number of competitors. The event will be open to the public on Sunday the 18th of October providing many
great chances to check out the competition in all its glory and see just exactly what a fully kitted out 4
wheel drive can handle. In addition with the generous support of our event sponsors which include 4wd
TV, Auto One, Blackburn 4x4, Dynamica Rope, Marks 4wd Adaptors, Offroader, Pro Comp, SG Leslie &
Sons, SKW 4x4, Southern Cross Canvas, Unlimited Industries and of course our Series Sponsor Engel
there will be chances to win some great prizes and give a ways.
With the introduction of a new and challenging location for round 4 never before used in competition,
this round also sees a change in the organizing team, Hilltop Events have taken on the challenge

Pete,
The reason there were only 9 stages at ateco was that there were not enough marshals. As it was the marshals we had were to thin on the ground and there were areas of track that should have had a marshal, but didn't.

Don't get me wrong, the marshals we had worked their butts off. I got to ateco at 2pm Friday and didn't get to sleep until 2.30am Saturday, was up at 6 and worked through until 7pm Saturday. Most marshals worked as hard/long as me.

You are really hamstrung by the amount of volunteers that turn up. On another note we had heaps say the would be there, and then didn't show. Some people were turned away because we thought we had enough to fill the positions, you know.... the ones that didn't show...

I really hope this round that the marshals are in abundance, as that will enable the organisers to run all SS.

I'll be there again, doing what I can... why not it's the best seat in the house.

Yeah, I know about it too Ben. I was subtly making it public to the offending parties that these events rely on lots of support and by them not sticking to their commitments has caused dramas.

I hope round 4 is better supported. Usualy those who are the first to criticise are also those who stood back and didn't support the cause.

Brian who operated the Dozer was found via an ad in the local newspaper... turned out he used to live on the property - and his family had lived there for over 100 years! Small world.

Aaron, Mim and Aaron were up on Saturday to help out.

Dogs were doing their bit with clearing tracks.

Ben Barrell turned up on Sanday with his excavator.

Was soon put to work.

Unfortunately got himself stuck, got one side stuck in what turned out to be a bit of a sinkhole....Dozer having a crack at pulling him out.

... kranskies were good on Sunday... :)
