Awright, my apologies to all the gurus here - I've spent a few days trawling the forum and found heaps, but not being familiar with the tech I've gotten more confused with the information! So beggin' your pardon, here are some (hopefully) direct questions and would appreciate your indulgence:

Situation: Mine's a V63.0 Auto NH GLS, now I have Cooper S/T 31" on them. I already feel a significant loss in power/grunt, and certainly fuel consumption has gone up.

What I want to do is to:
- use 33" MTZ (ok I have a 2" Ironman suspension lift so from the forum I know 33" should fit)
- but not suffer from the imminent worsening of power loss.

Questions:
- what changes to my gearing would be needed to overcome the power loss?
- in addition to the gearing upgrade, what else should be upgraded to account for any increased stress to the drive train/components?
- who should I go to in Melbourne for such a job? (FYI I'm also going to upgrade the suspension after the CAT to 2.25")

Wow - when my car grows up it's going to look like that...!!

Wonder if the drivetrain (and suspension) is the same with these..what: NG?

your drive line will be strong enough to handle the 33inch tyres and with the exhaust where abouts are you in melbourne I know of a good shop in Knoxville.

Hi mate, I run Maxxis Mudder 33" on 15 X 8 rims with Hilux off-set and 33" TSL Super Swampers on same rims as my play tyres, BUT, the only difference is that I've done a 2" bodt lift with the 2" suspension lift. Depends on what tracks your going to do with ya truck, I've also taken off the rear sway bar to allow the rear end to articulate a hell of a lot better which compensates for the IFS front more, there's not to many tracks that won't stop me, you just have to pick your lines better. O, and only broken 1 CV.
Make sure you get the right off-set rims or the tyres will rub everywhere.

Big wheel sigma: thanks for the details. I'm glad to hear the 33" muddies fit ok on the 15" rims what I have. I haven't the 2" body lift and don't intend to put it in unless totally necessary: don't forget with the 3.5 you already have a factory lift...not with the 3.0V6 NH. But I take your point on the rear sway disconnect - any chance of being able to use a pin type disconnect so that I can put it in again for the drive home? BTW, my NH GLS also has the factory rear diff lock, and gee what a difference that can make!
