Advice on radiator

Post by damo lux »

I am in the process of turboing my old ln106 lux. I'm also replacing most parts in the cooling system, thermostat, pipes, water pump etc.
My radiator is leaking just under the header tank and I've had some advice to get it re cored with an extra core (four instead of three).
I have looked and found new alloy radiators for $390, recore with extra core $400 or new standard for $440.
I am just after a bit of advice/opinions on which way to go.

Cheers

Get the radiator recored with 4 cores.
I have tried aluminium and find it simply spews too much heat into the engine bay as well as fails easily in a 4WD from fatigue.

I changed to a standard radiator with h-duty 4 core and the cooling system now works much better.

That is just my experience and that of a lot of people I wheel with who run hi lux based rigs with V8s.

can't see why it wouldn't apply to a turbo diesal though.

Cheers
