Anyone supercharged a Suzuki 1600 G16B Before?

Guys,
Do you know of anyone running a Supercharger on one of these motors?
I want to supercharge my Sierra

Calmini don't make a supercharger, they source a kit from a mob called Camden, Its a roots type Supercharger. Unfortunatly it wont clear the brake booster/master cylinder on RHD cars so you'll need to mod that ( escort mexico style looks workable) They also only come with manifold for an 8 valve 1600. It could be adapted to the 16 valve single point, but the multipoint would be a fair bit of work.
Theres a few guys around who used the toyota centrifugal style blower.

Rootes style bolts to the engine ( or to a very short manifold) turns at a similar speed to engine and has two large screw type vanes, allways on. Centrifugal type is remote mounted and plumbed to the engine, uses an impeller that looks not disimilar to a turbo. This is what the toyota ones are. Centrifugal typically boosts at higher revs, spins faster and is a lot less noisy. Castlemaine rod shop have kit for the toyota ones that lets you switch them off. Centifugal will cost a whole lot less.

You can use an intercooler if the S/C is installed correctly a small eaton can be side mounted and not directly on top of the manifold as Liam has stated (typically they are mounted that way) they input the air from the rear and output from the middle so they can be plumbed anyway you like.
The Mercedes 4 cyl Kompressors utilise these eaton blowers in that way.
There is also an intercooler kit that mounts between the supercharger and the inlet manifold of a V6 commodore it is a water to air unit. So really anything with boost can be intercooled.

2 supercharged zook motors are getting around up here. Both are 1300's though. Lance at Suzisport Albion did a 4AGZE s/c which was crazy. He decompressed the head, but it 'fueled' up really bad on rough terrain. Good for on road but bad for offraod.
The other bloke swears by his motor is is a stock g13a running throttle body single point injection. He is running a tiny S/C off a 660 odd cc subaru motor. He works at AllJap importers. I have seen this thing and it flies.
Go for IT....

I spoke to a mechanic today that has done a few rebuilds on G16Bs
He said that quite often the vehicle does not reach the 100,00km mark (apparantly that is when the factory recommends changing the timing belt) by the time the belt is starting to deteriorate from age.
Anyone else heard anything about this sort of thing happening?

Do you have a contact for the guy with the G13A? I am thinking of doing the TBI and super later this year after suspension.

Standard Comp, NEW Timing belt
I am using EMS's new computer
S/C was very cheap called in a favour.
I will post some picks as I go along.
I got this Zook '89 model with G16B in it for $1500 busted transfer,
Then replaced the transfer did a Spring over running 32 x 11.5 x 15
Put carpet and a set of stratos seats in it. Now S/C injection and intercooler and transfer gears hopefully this weekend. then lockers the long weeked.................ah well thats the plan anyway.

the toyoya sc is in fact a roots type blower and it does make power from idle to revlimit. lance at suzisport did fit one but it revved out to quickly due to low gears and small tyres. be carefull as i poped 3 head gaskets before i got mine sorted still not dynoed but left stocker for dead whilst towing a heavy trailer up gateway bridge still in top gear in auto just reached down and turned it on mad max style it is a toyota 4agze type and i luv it

did you drop the compression?
are you running an intercooler?
the reason i poped 3 head gaskets was due to having shaved head face 12mm and running the sc into the inter cooler before the throtle body.even with 2 blow off valves i could not bleed enough boost off at idle(23lbs at 800rpm)heaps of power once you got over the huuuuuuuuuuuge flat spot .replaced head with stocker then went air cleaner into impco 200 lpg mixer then into honda throtle body then into super charger then inter cooler then inlet manifold then hang the *%$# on cause it just hammerd straigt away no dyno or tunningbut 2weeks later i had broken all 4 axels 1 rear diff crown wheel and pinion and popedthe converter seal but boy did it have some power enough to smoke up all (double cig diff locks ) 4 31/10.5 BFG muds into 2nd gear high range and not flat out ether but that was 4 years ago now it has hilux diffs and a better auto and still has to go and be dynoed
isnt it a tad dangerous to have a compressed fuel/air mixture flowing through the intercooler? I am sure I heard about some guy blowing up his intercooler like this. I'd have thought it would be better to have the induction sequence like air cleaner -> supercharger -> intercooler -> LPG mixer -> throttle body. Any particular reason you set it up like you did?
I also cant understand why u originally had a huge flat spot with 23 PSI @ 800RPM??? Or why you didn't melt a piston from detonation. Am i missing something here?? Did u always run it on LPG??
I'm confusered

hey bazuky, i have a pretty stock landcruiser, soft top with roll cage, and i would like to go out for a wheel some day, it sounds like you may be local to the brisbane (south east queensland area)
i am keen to see this machine and your ability, as a driver of this extreme machine!
cheers
bj
my machine also has sliders, mud terrains, and bucket seats, grab handles, dual batteries, spotlights, a winch and all sorts of cool gear which helps it off road!
PM me or drop me a email, on or offline, about when and where you want to wheel it!!
PLEASE say that you take it offroad, i mean, you have to justify the welded diffs at least right?!!
