84 hilux problem

Post by pig_box »

hey there fellas. Have an 84 single cab ute.. And have a clunking sound as i turn around corners. Also i have noticed that there is oil leaking from the inside of the front wheels. I have had 33s on the 4x4 for a while now and just recently put some split rims on it to see any difference. The sound is more noticeable and also as the wheels turn more noise is made.

Can anyone help in explaining what the problem or problems are and how much will it cost to fix ....Cheers

could be one of three things

1. collapsed wheel bearing
2. king pin bearings
3. or maybe the cv

the oil leak can be fixed by replaceing the inner seal but i wouldnt bother doing unless you fix the imediate problem.

just pull it apart and explore its all a learning experience
IF IN DOUBT GO FLAT OUT

Rip her apart and have a looksee.

Get lots of rags. And this: http://locktup4x4.com.au/hilux-solid-fr ... t-243.html

And never have leaking hubs again.
