Daihatsu Rocky Help

Post by nmargetts »

I own a 1986 Rocky F75 I wish to spend a lot of $$ on it (Sounds Silly But Will Be Very Cool When Done) I am in need of any info people might have on suspension mods & electronics as everything will be custom just about as it is rebuilt. Hope someone can assist.

Performance Diesel Engine Rebuild

Coil Over Suspension

Air Conditioning (OLD ONE IS DEAD IN CAB & UNDER BONNET)

Roll Cage / Custom Bull Bar

If you're going to spend a bit of cash to make it capable offroad, I would look into putting some Hilux or similar diffs under it to open up alternate gearings and also lockers.
The lack of gearing options for Rocky diffs will make tyre sizes stay small, and no lockers, well enough said!

I would stay ith the DL-52 motor if you can get one and work it a little bit, as they last forever and the power they produce was years ahead of its time.

Good luck with it mate, hope it all works out. :D

Throw engine, g/box/transfer and diffs in the bin and replace with toyota items that you can still get parts for, then you will have a car that is worth keeping instead of having to sell it cause no-one make gearbox or every other part that is needed when something breaks.
Or sell it and buy a suzuki
