hey just wondering if anyone has done a set of flipped rims using a
15x8inch sunny with a 16inch centre, any pics would be great to

why do u need a 16'' centre over the 15''?

u would need to get a rim to sute the 16'' centre an less its just the stud pattern u need out of the 16'' centre?

Not possible, a 16" is bigger surprisingly enough so wouldn't fit.

Just buy a set of 16" rims that have the correct offset

Due to the 16 inch being bigger centre you can cut to suit and flip inside the back of the rim which is larger anyway!!!!! therefore given an even larger offset than just the standard 15" flip welded on the inner edge.

sounds like too much work. The roh 15 sunnies i have look like it would be easy to grind the welds off and punch the centre out and reweld it in. Pretty sure someone said that its possible to buy the rims with out a centre cheap and use your own centre.

IM JUST AFTER MORE OFFSET THAN JUST THE STRAIGHT 15 FLIP, I KNOW A GUY WHO HAS DONE A SET BUT DONT SEE HIM MUCH, COULD GO SPACERS BUT I JUST THINK THERE IS TO MUCH PRESSURE ON THE WHEEL STUDS :roll: . OH YEAH, IF I COULD A SET OF JUST RIMS THAT WOULD BE HEAPS BETTER, ILL HAVE A LOOK AROUND, CHEERS

mate, you asked a strange question with little to no info on what you were after and or trying to acheive, dont get the sh!ts when you don't get the answers you want.

why do you think spacers would put any more pressure on the studs, bearings, kingpins etc than high offset rims?

what vehicle do you have and what offset are you chasing? what tyres are you planing to run? are 15x8s the correct rim or are you better off with a 10" rim? maybe there is a high offset 10" rim available off the shelf to suit you needs?

heavily offset wheels bend out of shape very quickly
i have a set of flipped 16x8's with TSL's and i bent them like banana's in one trip.

you are better of running standard wheels with spacers, no difference between either to your bearing load.

I have seen it done , the bead locks i used to run were made exactly that way.

With one exception... you didnt have to flip the rim by using the 16" centre, keeping the longer bead to the inside of the wheel.

I dont know is this works for all 15'/16" rim combinations

I think the off set than would be similar to a flipped rim.

I ran 15"/16" combo in every Tuff Truck except the last one, with tyres ranging from 38" -44" and had no drama with bending rims.

My second tyres are 38" on flipped rims and never managed to bend them either

IM JUST AFTER JUST A BIT MORE OFFSET THAN THE REGULAR 15 FLIP.. WITHOUT GOIN TO SPACERS. ONE OF ME OLD MATES DONE IT FEW YEARS AGO AND WORKED A TREAT, ID GET HIM TO DO IT BUT DONT KEEP IN CONTACT NO MORE :? SO IM JUST AFTER INFO ON HOW PEOPLE WENT WITH DOIN EM,

what you are trying to do is very risky, i would not recomend it for street use, you need to make sure that the wheel is running true when finished allways and that you can weld very good.
it can be done, you grind out inner rim where the welds are, make sure you don't go to far as to damage the outer rim.
Then look for plug welds on the tube side of rim,if so drill out, there shouldn't be any if the centre rim is welded.
knock centre out evenly,
you might have to machine the 16 inch rin down to size to fit the 15 inch rim,
clean the rim where the old welds where.
now the tricky stuff,
devide rim into 8 pieces.
mark were each weld is going to be about 10 mm long.
put 16 inch inner in lathe or jig.You can use front hub ,do wheel nuts up, then put outer rim on to where you need it to be, spin rim and check all ways for straightness and no run out (up and down, side to side). Very important.
you will need a dial guage of some sort.
when welding you must go 90 degrees opposite the other weld.
put 4 light tack welds quaterly to hold outer rim in place on inside of inner rim, then recheck for trueness again. then tack weld in between the other welds , you should have 8 tack welds on rim, then recheck for trueness,
let cool down,then recheck for trueness again.
finish off welds to size welding at 90 degrees to each weld and recheck for trueness, the rim should balance up pretty good if welds are the same size.
This is how i do it for dirt track work , i have a proper jig made which you put the inner rim on, and to check for trueness.
it would be easer to order the size and off set you required from tyre dealer.

I use a similar method, except I have a jig which allows me to check for trueness and weld off in one movement. saves all the rechecking. It is important not to remove the rim from the jig untill it has cooled though, as it can warp. I only make new 17x9's with fresh laser cut centres, so my methods may not work for others.
