Gearing increases Torque, not power. You'd have over 1000Nm of torque at the axles with the 6.5's and a 1300 at the right rpm, and probably about 5kw of power31zook wrote:Gwagensteve wrote:My 660 has enough gearing to walk up anything with the lockers... so?
The point is that there are many, many better ways of getting 127Kw in a sierra (if that's what one needs) and many better ways of getting a 4 speed auto in a sierra (if that's what one needs)
Steve.
correct me if im wrong but i once read that a standard 1.3 on 31s with 6.5s produces close to 500hp in Low 1st... just what i read

Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.
Sorry have to disagree - thrashed rotaries are all of the above but what's unique about that ?mrRocky wrote:rotories are unreliable, hard on parts and heavy
Just because you can rev them to a zillion RPM doesn't mean that you should - kept within reasonable limits they work well.
IMO they are not overly heavy - especially considering their power output, but a significant factor is their compact shape which makes for a low COG - something that does make a big difference.
However the age of the earlier engines does mean that cheap parts are no longer easy to get - so i'd think twice now unless i was prepared to outlay a substantial amount for a newer engine.
Still like this whole thread - each to their own......

it was to show that the commodore v6 is not that bad a motor as this thing has a 4.3lt buick motor in it from memoryflyinwall wrote:http://www.offroadfabnet.com/forums/sho ... oors+latch

I am not a fan of big heavy motors in Zuks ... just because someone put a bigger motor in one doe not make the slightly smaller one right ..flyinwall wrote:it was to show that the commodore v6 is not that bad a motor as this thing has a 4.3lt buick motor in it from memoryflyinwall wrote:http://www.offroadfabnet.com/forums/sho ... oors+latch
I had a acquaintance who put a 454 in a 120y ... went nowhere in 1st 2nd or 3rd .. but when it hooked up .. it went like the proverbial poo off a shovel. (if you could keep it in a strait line) That didint make his next "project" of installing a 350 any better, after he wrote the 454 powered one off 3 days after building it.

I paid 1200 for a whole (very rough) car that had been 660 converted, and had everything I needed to do the conversion nicely except the vitara fuel tank.
Cappuccino 1/2 cuts are the dearest at about $2K, but have an unhelpful gearbox. Nice motor though.
The biggest problem with the 660 is only how hard they are to find.

660 is a three cylinder turbocharged and intercooled motor (660cc funnily enough) that suzuki fitted to their Kei type cars like the capaccino. There are a few different versions. Google will bring up a sh*t load of pics and info.
Sneeze factor is just the turbo, either from a atmospheric vented blow off valve, or the flutter effect from the air filter. Get a few cap engined zooks together and it sounds like sunday arvo sitting at the foreshore in newy
