im in the middle of replacing rear pinion seal, the owners manual says to put multi purpose grease on new seal before fitting it, i have some lithium grease here that i use on the bmx bike bearings. is that ok to use??
please help as i need to get this job done today.

I would - but I'm no expert on this stuff.

I reckon it's just to ensure the seal is lubricated on first start - after that, it will probably be lubricated internally. I don't see that the lithium will cause any problems.

that grease is fine, its just to stop you wrecking the seal when installing the pinion.
