I recently bought a Rocky F80 wreck. My plan is, to swap the engine and transfer into my 1,6l Scat F20 and to get it street legal. It provides some 30% more power and comes with power steering.
But does it makes sense? Is the engine as reliable as the 12R?
I bought an F80 for my daughter about 2 years ago. With around 250 000 km on the clock, it has been a pretty reliable unit. No major issues have arisen. I even towed a car trailer with an F75 wreck on it. Although it was a bit slow, it still did the job quite well. It hasnt been 4wded too hard, as really that wasnt the reason for buying it. Even fuel comsumption hasnt been to bad. If anything goes against it, is top end speed. It does start to struggle at legal highway speed, 100kph, and I think 120kph would be tops.
I would think with a 3Y on your F20 and with the low final drive ratio your car is gonna fly....
It might not be much but years ago dyno our 3Y Rocky with Weber DCNF and reprofiled cams.
100bhp at the wheels.
