Tyre issue

Post by andy1517 »

guys i currently own 4x 30x9.5 BFG's.
I love them.
My youngest brother has just bought hard top and wants new tyres.
I have suggested the same as mine.

Few questions.
He can buy 30x9.5 maxxis bighorns on black sunnies for aroun $700/800

or what prices can he expect to pay on the following and where (south east vic)

a) 30x9.5 BFG x4 on black sunnies
b) 31x10.5 x4 on black sunnies
c) 31x10.5 Mickey T's MTZ on black sunnies

will 31'2 fit on standard zook with 50mm body lift?

Thanks guys
94 zook, 2" body lift, 30.5" bfg muddies, custom bar, warn 8000, 240 XGT's, extractors and 2" exhaust.

you will prob struggle to fit 31's with only 2" of b/l
my 31's fit with 2" b/l and 2" springs which are about 1" now so thats 3" total with a fair bit of hammer work on the inner gards and they rarley scrub ever.
For a cheap fix you can use 2" extended shackles which will give you 1" lift. You can still expect to have to bash the inner gards behind the footwell and also bash the sharp lip of the gard up so it doesnt cut your tyres if it does hit.

yeah - lots of bashing to be done =)

he can redrill the hangers or do a mini or full RUF to move the diff forwards too which will help clearance - although not too far otherwise youll have to cut out behind the headlight (i've done this).

Bump stops are going to be your saviour i think.

You can fit 31s without a lift. re drill your front diff 15-20mm forward. Add 25mm bump stop and bash the seams flat on the rear and run a suitable bump stop there. This will let you run 31s no worries :D For all those who wish to argue, I have a zook out the back of my house with what i mentioned done to it

also have a look on ebay i got some new 30x9.5 bfg m/t's from st george tyres in sydney, they were reasonably priced; but obviously still need to source rims & fit the tyres.
i went thru the whole 31 or 30 thing, in the end decided 30's as much less dodgy guard modding plus the car struggles enough as it is with 30's on it; albeit mines a 92 vitara with 35mil body lift & lifted susp

30's are nice on a sierra and u need gears if u have 31's also. 30's u can get away with not moding anything apart from maybe a sus lift. he should be happy with the 30's.
