longer rear springs

Post by skippa83 »

hey guys just want some info on what are the best rear springs to use. i am going to go second hand and i have 2inch extended shackles at the moment. i have heard hilux front ones fit with a bit of effort as they are 10mm wider. i was just wanting to know what other cars i could get springs out of for this conversion with minimal modification. i am running standard rear springs at the moment. any help will be greatly appreciated.

I now run ruf up front and ke30/55 rearpack with a ke70wagon mainleaf cut for a second leaf and added in the pack.

Im using a suzuki swift rear main leaf . They are the same width as a stock spring and have the same bushes.
Top is suzuki swift ,bottom is stock rear.
Image
To fit them i had to
-Re-drill the centre bolt hole.
-Move the rear shackel mount back.
-Make up the spring packs to suit , i used my lift springs and my factory rears .
I am also using suzuki swift bump stops

What's the general consensus re going a longer rear leaf vs an OME 2" / stock spring hybrid pack? I'll be doing partial RUF at some stage and was planning on using hybrid stock rear + 2" OME's up front, and hybrid stock rear + 2" OME's rear...

fine then - ill post how awesome the lux fronts are =P

theyre SICK! haha however to get the spring rate right you need to drop the load leaf so the pack onyl has 3 leaves - this makes the pack almost dead flat, so you'll want to be SPOA to do it or youll be riding on the bump stops all day long! And its cos of the SPOA work involved that there wasnt much more to changing the mounts while we're doing the perches to run the lux fronts all round. Then you need to address brake lines, shocks, bump stops, driveshafts, chassis extension at the front, and im sure im forgetting a heap more.
