44044's vs rockcrawler

Post by 308LUX »

ive been thinking about buying a set of 44044's for the front of the hilux, ive heard they perform quite well...but have a few quieries about there performance...

1. being american made for the toy pickup left hand drive im guessing that the slightly raised pack will be on the passenger side of a hilux...is this correct ??...its just a matter of swapping the particular leaf over im guessing

2. would bushes, single leaf ect be hard to find here or would i have to get em from the states

3. looking at the rancho products sold for the australian market they sell the 'rockcrawler' springs...are these very similar to the 44044's ??...
are they any good ? anyone tried em ?...they are quite a bit cheaper

4. any other info/ideas about either would be good !!!

No these springs are not made for a hilux therefore the packs are arched the same. It may lean to one side becase one perch is lower then the other. You could put a small block (I think it is 3/8") on the low side to even it up. On mine I didn't bother you can't really tell it is leaning!!

Not sure but I think any good suspension mobe should be able to turn up any size bushes you want. And that goes with leaves, a good spring maker will be able to make them.

Not sure about the rockcrawler make. I got mine from a company that ships them over from the US directly. 44044's are just the part number fot the spring. Just make sure they are made in the US by rancho and not in Australia. Then you will know they are the right springs.

No you need to run an extended shackle as they are longer then stnadrd hilux front springs.

it is a 6 leaf pack.

Have a lok here
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthre ... did=173918

Search on pirate they have heaps of info on these springs.
