heyy guys and girls just bought 86 hilux trayback ute its a bit worse for wear but i reckon abit of tlc and shell be a beast off road um im kinda new to the whole 4wd thing but currently its got bout 1.5 inch lift in the suspension should be 2 but there sagged major. If any one could give me a few tips about mods or qanything like that it would be greatly appreciated see ya guys.
how ya goin,
what are you plannin on doing with it,minor 4wding like beach work and just playn around on the easy tracks or weather you want a capable truck that will do the harder tracks and still do beach work and legal on-road or you want a full comp truck that highly ilegal and is unstoppable.
usually the basic rule of thumb is lift, tyres and lockers..
but if you want something else start from the bottom and work your way up..as in:
-work out what size tyres you want to run
-then find the lift that you need to run that size tire
-will your driveline handle that tire
-will your engine turn that size tire
etc etc.
you cant really do one modification without doing anoher one to make it work so be prepared..
yea so just say what you plan on doing with it and people will be glad to help ya out..
thats how ive modified mine but different people have different ideas....
cheers..smiley..

plus do a search through toyota section, look through members builds for ideas. theres alot of luxes in there, i dont wanna brag, but, ive got a 86 dual cab, my builds in there. theres heaps of good ideas for pretty much anything in the build up section, from d.i.y. fab to full custom made stuff. good luck and happy wheeling

mate i would go a set of maxxis bighorns or kumho road venture kl71's..cheapest and best tire out there i rekon..best bang for your buck..
i would go a 32's cause there pretty legal and your engine will turn 32's easier than 33's..but thats just my 2 cents...make sure u make a build up in the members page mate, heaps of people will give you advice then..
cheers..smiley..
