Hey,
Just wondering how most of the top competitive trucks are setup for winch challenge and outback challenge type events.
I have a good handle on buggies and tuff truck type mods but not too sure on higher speed events.
Looking for things like:
- Diff ratios?
- Selectable or auto-lockers?
- Auto or manual transmission?
- transfer case gearing?
- rear disconnect useful?
- Suspension setup?
- Vague idea of power levels?
- Winch modifications?
- etc.
Any help appreciated.

Selectable lockers (maybe auto in rear)
traditionally manuals but built autos becoming very popular
std transfer gearing seems to be the go
never seen a rear disconnect on a winch truck
suspension - strength, geometry, damping are more important that max flex
100kw-600kw
winch - dependent on class - twin motor highmount w/widened drum and air freespool is very popular - 6hp hi-mount at the very least. A few hydrauliuc and PTO's getting around too and becoming more popular.

I'd think that in many cases the advantage you'd have with a swb/mwb Jeep making some reasonable power would be that you'd weigh in a fair way less than most GQ's. Same spec winch and 20-30% less weight
