Are 8's to big
Do you think 8" wheels are too big for a wide track? buying new wheels and tyres soon and don't know whether to go 7's or 8's. Do the 8's hang out the guards to far? probably just running 31's maybe 32's

Sorry Guy, I had the 33x9.5r15s on 7" rims when I got it engeneered, he wouldn't look at 33x12r15s, the rim size wasn't even mentioned.

My 8s are mentioned on my papers but , only for competition use .
In nsw If the axle type was only avialable on a vehicle that tared out at less than 1100 kg , so 8s arnt possible.
Allthough the same size or bigger diameter would have been ok on 7s
as long as it dosn,t rub on springs ect ,
And of course the tire manufacturers info need to be taken in to account . EG: all MTRS over 32x11.50 x15 require a 8.5 inch wide rim
So from an engineering piont of view No mtrs over this size in a fifteen can be engineered in oz unless you can prove the axles your using came out with a rim size from the factory of 8.5x15 or bigger .
Some poeple have apperantly asked for letters from goodyear to present to the eng sig that there tires would be ok on an 8 inch rim , But its only a rumour maybe .
Just some real facts to consider,
I run 32s on 8s , 35s on 7s , Not approved, 8s to wide ,7s have to much
offset.

The ADR will not allow anything over an 8" rim on a four wheel drive to be engineered and rego'd.
I have also had alot of discussions with him on 33x12.5x15 tyres on 4x4's,According to the tyre manufacturer they have to be fitted to a minium 8.5"rim,and the adr rules will only allow them to fitted to a minium rim size of 8 1/4".To get these rims made is'nt going to be cheap,but either way it will not pass an engineer's report cause they are wider than an 8" rim...
