06 4.2 Patrol?

Post by monstapatrol »

Hi all,
I have found the above Patrol for sale in a car yard, and was just wondering what is a rough price i would be looking at paying for it? It is an ST with leather interior, rear air con, 102,000 km on the clock, fairly standard for an ST. Also wondering if there are any limitations on the mods i can do to it? Not too sure if it is the computer controlled donk or not, as i dont know a great deal about the 4.2, except a mate told me to look at buying a 4.2 without the computer BS . Any information is greatly appreciated.

the price they are asking may scare you, they are pulling massive dollars since they are hard to find.

With rear a/c and leather it sounds like an st-l model. they still have the st sticker on the side.
If it is 4.2 it will be non computered, but may have ABS.
have a look around and compare other prices but like said above they dont come up very often. I would expect around the $40k mark but i havent looked for a few years.

No stickers on the GU4 4.2's

GU4 4.2 has a computer that controls timing. But it can be unplugged & the car runs fine.

If its Stock Standard from a car yard Id expect they would have about $50+k on it. One near me had one a few months back stock & they wanted $60k.

If its around the $40k buy it before someone else does.

I have seen a couple of 4.2 ST-L's recently, both priced more than a brand new ST. AS much as I don't like the ZD30, I'd buy brand new before I paid as much (or more) for a 100,000KM 3 yr old vehicle!

then your a fool :finger:

apart from overheating under high revs and heavy sustained loads, the TD42 is a very tough motor to match for its ability to handle bullshit thrown its way
97 GQ patrol coilcab. TD42, safari turbo kit with fiddled turbo, D-GAS kit. dyno results to come...
4inch lift, king springs, efs and procomp shocks
315/70R16 cooper ST's
found fuel economy...
