Removing Windscreens (hilux)

Post by HTH »

Im getting ready to re-spray my hilux and theres a little bit of rust under the rubber trims around the front and rear windscreens.

I've never removed windows before and was just wondering if anyone had any tips or pictures that could help in this process?

Cheers, HTH

the hilux in ur display pic? pull ur dash out and get some rope, bout 8mm or so round, pri up the rubber from the windscreen surround and put the rope under there, the rubber will now be sitting off the surround.
Once u have done this all the way around, grab a mate to hold the windscreen in from the outside while u push it out from the inside.
Start in a corner and slowly work ur way around, it ill evently just pop out,(hopefully against ur freinds hands so it doesnt drop! ).
If u have any small cracks or chips in ur window, u have to be super carfull as it will MOST likely crack.
U can repeat the same to put the window back in, rope under the rubber, sit it back in the surround and have a mate push on the edge of the window as u slowly pull the rope out.

I have to do this at some stage as well.

I removed the rear window of a lux no problems just by pushing the rubber lip from the inside to the out starting in the corner and working my way around with a mate on the outside to hold it.
*there's a rock, drive over it :) there's a bigger rock, drive over it  there's an even bigger rock, oops broke it  Upgrade broken bit :bad-words:

That's where a blanket on the bonnet comes in or a mate to catch it.
