be cafull with the t04 as there is about a dozen different t04 turbo configurations and some wont be suited to a 4.2l because by brother fitted one and it wasnt performing as it should and we later found out that the t04 that he had was suited to a lot higher engine capacity and it simply wasnt making boost, it was strugeling to make 5psi. we then fitted smaller turbo and its now making 14psi.

The T04e is the one to use NOT the T04z....the T04e is still pretty big for 4.2 and depending on the exhaust turbine AR quite laggy.
They can (and have) been made to go well but further mods and more money will be required ie pump build, 3" exh, cam, etc etc

get the GT28 series or similar....there's heaps of options to check out on here..

good luck

the choices are plenty, but the GT2860R is the general consensus for a standard 4.2 (we are doing one now) as for second hand the Nissan skyline with the single turbo is another one that works well....have a crack at the goggle search as the one on here is piss poor.

good luck
