price of this 55
G'day,
i spotted a 55 in a car yard, 6 months ago it was$7000, then it was $5000, now it's down to $3000.
from what i could see it seemed to be in reasonable condition apart from some cancer in the usual places for a 55, bottom of doors and edge of roof,
it has gas not fitted, hot water unit, roof rack, bullbar,
motor goes well, has muddies on rear, all-terrains on front, interior is good,
do you think $3000 is an ok price or would i knock him down a bit if i was to buy it
but of course i have not yet had a thorough look at it yet.
thanks
Daniel.

Saw a very clean 55 go at an auction about two months ago for $550. It was very clean, good motor and looked to be a pretty decent sort of a vehicle. They are certainly the ugly sister of the cruiser family and dont appear to fetch as much as a 60 or even a 40. If you are ell bent on a 55 I reakon you should be getting a very good one for $3000
$550, geez that's an alrght price,
i don't reckon they're ugly at all, i reckon it adds to their appeal, but thats in the eye of the beholder.
has anyone in victoria seen any cheap 55s for sale in caryards or private?
i like em because their practicallity suits me nicely, 4 door, 6 seats with cargo and can fit a bed in the back with seats folded down, straight 6 petrol etc.
i also reckon they look really cool and tough
cheers

I was wrong, no roadworthy, no rego, and is a '77, has some decent bucket seats up the front instead of the bench, tinted windows,
but the thing is i kinda want to get an old one like this as a long term project to restore and do up. i spose im a bit of a iron pig enthusiast, hate to see one waste away.
cheers

thanks for that patrol dude.
Not only that, there is a a reinforcing bar in the base that is in the perfect spot to hit the base of your spine on a long trip, friend of mine could barely walk after a long trip in an Iron Pig with standard seats.
