BFG Baja TA

Post by digsy »

Hey all

just wondering if any of you guys had any info on the BFG Baja T/A
seen them once before in Ultimate Adventure and they seemed to work pretty well.
I want to put them on a street car for their offroad race cred.
Meant to be absolutely bullet proof too...

so i'm hoping i'd get good kms out of them, ok traction and some serious strenght...
just I got 40,000 kms out of the Krawlers I had so do you think they'd be similar compounds?

Any info appreciated/links to usa sites with more info?

I know sweet FA about the BFG Baja, but if I was after Baja cred I would go with Mickey Thompson.

what you probably saw were the BFG 'PROJECTS', they are a comp spec tyre and are considered the best tyre available bar none. They are available in many different sizes, compounds and patterns. From the old M/T pattern to a slick A/T, than to various Krawler/Brawler patterns. They are about $1k each (similar price to a red label krawler)

yeah ok... maybe but I was pretty confident they were the Projects that they were running.... same tire as almost all the top trophy trucks at the time...

As for Baja cred.... Micky Thompson..... when's the last time they won a baja???????? I think you'll find it was 20 in a row to BFG Baja TA before the new breed of Toyo's and General Grabbers.... The only thing that mickey's have that are baja related is the name!!!!

And thanks Lockee.... I did actually notice that you had them... loved my old Krawlers but time for a change... and like I said in my opinion these have cred in spades! just don't want to get a tire that would only do 200k's and then wear out

Watch the on road ratings on baja race tyres - most are C which is bad traction / bad in wet.

No point in going up the back of the car in front of you cause the tyres are baja cool ha ha

I would be very suprised if they are road legal - my general grabbers are race only.

Try ryano @ Fourby's for these tyres,

here is a link to Cameron @ racer imports to get an idea on price

the name projects and bajas is interchangable, even BFG mix it up.

if you've got the cash to run them on a street rig good on you.
I'm pretty sure mine are stamped race tire only not for street use. I'm not sure if thats in all the sizes. and yes, they are comparable in price to a red label
    that we destroyed 4 of them in the last event.

Yep that's the info I want... if they aren't street rated they're no good to me... I guess really no 35 is but if they aren't even rated it's pretty hard to play dumb...

Thanks for the info boys!

Maybe Toyo Open Country M/T's are the new hot... apparently their sidewalls are pretty wild!

They are for a promo/tow car so image is pretty important... thus the Baja T/a for their cred/low volume... if no one else has them then it's likely that people will come to our stand for a look...
