Has anyone tried one of these?

For the price (<$500) they look like bloody good value. Plus you get Digital TV and a resolution of 800 x 480 which is excellent for a 7" unit.

The only problem I can tell is the GPS and Dig TV antenna are not weatherproof.

Looks very similar to the one a mate bought. He's rapt with it.

Mate, can you be anymore vague? You've just described a huge amount of GPS units on the market.

iv fitted a couple of these, they are cheap for what they are and more than adequate if your not after top of the line gear. there is a few things to note. when the screen folds down, it tilts in a way that makes it foul on some dashes and i have had to cut a pulsar facia a bit to make it fit and same with a rav4.
the antenna comes with a remote magnetic base so you can fit it to the parcel shelf if you like and then just pick it up and hide it if your not using it, the cable is long so it will reach easily in a small car but not sure about where you would mount it in a 4b or wagon. one bloke stuck it on his dash with double sided tape. it was secure but i didnt like the look of it there.
gps antenna i usually run up under the a pillar trim and it is magnetic so you can stick it in the corner under the trim or even up in the roof lining.

Thanks for the info.

Do the units appear to be reliable?

WRT the GPS antenna. I thought it wouldn't work sitting just under the roof as it's steel???

seems reliable enough since none have come back but havent really used them, just fitted them. its advised not to put gps antenna near metal because it will interfere with the reception, but iv never had a problem with it in the roof right at the front corner. iv even had one in behind the head unit in the dash (as close to the top as possible but still surrounded by metal brackets and covered by the thick dashboard) and it still worked fine. this was the customers request by the way so dont judge me! another option is run it up the inside of the a pillar and use double sided tape to stick it on the inside of the windscreen like where you usually fit the antenna for a phone kit.

Some guys on the 4WD Action forum run the same model that I'm looking at. They have successfully put Ozi on, which I plan to do as well.

I was thinking about mounting it just above the rearview mirror, so it sits between the mirror and roof lining as well.

should be fine provided the lead tucks under the roof lining without making it bulge :)

The one you are looking at is one of my favorites due to the better screen res.

As for those units made by eonon they are a S#$T. had one of the unit's that the 7 " screen folded in, and after 12 months it started playing up. It would get jammed and you could not do a thing with it. IE: the volume, it would not change from radio to cd , you could not even turn it off. the gps worked good but the unit in general was F#@ked.
