just put a 4 inch ironman lift and 35 inch baja claws under my swb mav.
on the way home today started to make a noise when i put the clutch in or accelerate slightly from coasting. i have no idea wat it could be

I can safely say that the noise will probably be due to the drive shaft geometry after you put the 4" lift in.
Either invest in some longer rear lower control arms in (10-16mm), gearbox crossmember packers, adjustable upper rear arms or a double cardan rear shaft should fix the problem.

I have the same problem now!
I just did 4 inch lift in a SWB with longer lowers and a double cardinal, the virations were bloody bad as I couldn't rotate my pinion high enough.
My stock drive shaft went in and zero vibrations now, but when I back off the accelerator or push the clutch in I get wierd noise coming from the rear end, it sounds simular to bearing noise but it isn't.
Waandy did you find out what was casing this noise? Anyone else come across this before?

Just searched through 50 pages of threads back to 2003 and found that this noise in most cases is coming from the extended spline! due to lifting suspension. Some solutions were to pack it full of high quality high temp grease once a month, unbolting and rotating the driveline 180* helped one member. I am guessing a tailshaft spacer would be solution also.

Have you tried a tailshaft spacer? I haven't fitted tailsafter spacer, I can see how your uni angles would a little but the spline wouldn't be extended anymore and back to stock so the problem should be gone. The other option would be to get longer drive shaft.
