I've had mine for over 2years now and I still have more tread left than him, it's the way you drive.

He must be burning rubber or somthing. I've been wheeling countless of times, doing several trips here and there, even been to sydney and back 5 or 6 times. I'm quite happy how mine preform.

FOURBYS just rotated my tyre 2weeks ago, the side walls are like day one again

AGE means nothing.

You could wear out pretty much any tyre in 6months if you had a unlimited fuel card and some time off work.

Interestingly, ive heard from at least two other people who are running 285/75R16 MTZ's that are suffering extremely fast wear. Mates running 305/75R16's on bigger trucks are still getting extremely good kms from them, guys running smaller tyres like the 31x10.5x15 getting good wear, but it seems that a bunch of very soft 285/75R16's got imported at some point...

Most seems to have done a similar number of kms, suggesting similar age.

If it wasnt pouring outside, i'd go get the batch number off the sidewalls to see whether theres any consistancy with others with fast wear issues.

Consider my recomendations about this tyre TOTALLY changed.

I would NOT recommend a MT product to anyone any more after the treatment im getting about mine.

28,800kms. mostly highway, one 5000km trip to Lake Eyre, About 6 trips to morgan and one to beach port.

1.5mm tread left on the fronts (over wear indicators) 3.5mm rears.

Went and had a grumble about them to the rep, he said wear em out to the wear indicators (which means the cars unsafe to drive) and now im getting front end slides in the bloody thing from the tyres letting go, im getting the cold shoulder from the tyre shop...

Seeing if a different shop has more luck with the rep, but i'll go get some photos later.

Im fitting KM2's next.

Drivers rear.

All done 28,800kms, Rotated every 10,000kms, 28psi road pressure (as recomended by the MT representative), Lowered accordingly offroad.

my 285/75-R16's have 60000k's on them and still have plenty of life in them yet, the bloke i bought the car off was given an 80000klm guarantee on them.
my only problem has been a few minor lock up's in the wet apart from that i couldn't be happier with them.

they are on a gu wagon running around 36psi on the street.

am on my 2nd set now... i loved my 1st set

but am totally pissed with this set all four tyres look like ive driven over rasor blades.. parts of the tread are just peeling off this set has done mostly been driven on the road and done appox 10tho kms..

ive spoken to the shop i bourght them from they told me to take some pics of the tyres and email them.. so ill see where that takes me...

I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER SET!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ill buy some KM2's

That sounds a lot on the light side which would also explain the excessive tread wear.

I had a set on my GQ LWB wagon and did 30,000km on them and they were still practically brand new. Ran around 40 psi on the road and about 28 on the gravel.

at a guess he has a 1992 3.0TD Hilux Dual cab. 1KZ-TE, 4.7:1 transfer gears, 4.5:1 diffs, ARB lockers F&R, ARB winch bar & Rear Bar, 9000lb warn, Canopy, 285/75R16 MTZ and a heap of other junk!

but if MT rep has told him to run that pressure, then...

Have now done 10,000kms on the 33x12.5R17 MTZs on the lux, not showing any visible signs of wear yet. Pretty loud around 80km/hr, but quietin (sp) off either side of that. Other than the noise, I am very happy with them.

Ryano said due to them being LT construction on a lightish truck (2009 dual cab hilux) to run around 30psi in the front and 25-28psi in the rear. I imagine ferrit was told similar with the LT tyres not requiring as much pressure.

if you look at the treads in the photos, they dont show any sign of under inflation- the outer lugs would have worn a hell of a lot faster than the inner ones- Im getting even wear across the tread face.

im ususally running around 18psi offroad, they just dont bag out and grip well any higher than that, and down to around 12psi on the beach!

i am not very happy with my MTZ's as i have only had them for a few months now (havn't even gone out for a play with them yet) and i have 3 punctures in them already and thats from just driving up our driveway (driveway is about 800m long and windy and steep gravel)

They are still a 40% road tyre according to MT.

Theyre not a hardcore muddy or anything, and people are getting some high km out of them.

I have 35x12.5R16 MTZs on my 80. I rate them pretty good for the wheeling that I do mostly rock and hard dry clay, some mud/wet clay.

But they have worn quite badly on road.

I would get them again if I could be farked changing them before going wheeling. maybe I need some mudees so I can be a hard out wheeler like shortyq

I run them at around 15-18psi offroad, I find they bag out well and I get a stack more grip at these pressures compared to say 20psi.

well.. my MTZ's are gone- got crap treatment from MT's rep, so told him where he could shove his tyres and bought BFG MT's.

The MTZ's were awesome for the first 10,000kms, but then they fell apart and i just cant bring myself to recomend them any more- at $360 each for 285/75R16's, its a bloody expensive mistake to make when they only last under 30K kms... my $160 maxxis Buckshots at least made it to 39,000kms before they were stuffed!

i have had my 37.12.5.17 for about 3 months now and they are great just done willowglen on them 12psi with no beed locks no probs at all will buy them again

I'm finally up for new tyres this year, and these are on my list to consider. It's over a year since Ferrit had his experience - has anything changed? Anybody bought some recently?

10,000 klms in I am happy with mine. I had a wheel shake that was fixed buy upping the pressure to 34 psi (kept dropping the pressure to help fix it but got down to 26psi and was no help, and went to the other extreme).
They are a big step back from the radial I have run for years in the mud - my driveway is boggy as hell, and they don't self clean, but they are quieter on road and heaps better on the beach. I would buy another set for sure.
