Hey everyone,
I just bought an fj40 but it comes with 35" mud tyres. I know that they are not legal and was wondering what the biggest tyre i can fit is? In Qld. It is a 1974 fj40. Cheers

I'm no expert but I've always been of the opinion that 32's are the standard size as they are supposed to be approxiametley the same size as the tyre supplied on factory split rims. (Don't quote me on this OK)
I'm also only half sure that in QLD you are only supposed to increase tyre size by 15mm???
Shorty_forty has been pulled up for his 33" Simexs but they do look huge. A regular set of 33's should be ok and keep eyes away.
If you are really concerned, go with 32"s. They look big enough with a 3" lift and will keep your speedo right. Otherwise keep the 35's on until you get a ticket.
Not much help? Best I can do.

Dont go below 32" diameter!
The only time my 60 series is happy on the highway is with the 33s....
Even the original splittys are too small for the standard gear ratio, and they are listed as 32"
I'm about to put some 255/85/16s on some 7" rims, which are slightly over 33"...... Wont be cheap!
I actually tried to run the standard splittys and found that I had to have my foot further into the throttle to keep the old girl at 100-110Ks....Reving to about 2500 rpm at just over 100Ks, too high for the old 3F
The speedo is spot on with the 33s on! Checked with 2 different GPSs, and will do 100Ks sitting on 2000 rpm......
