vitara fuel tank into sierra?
vitara fuel tank into sierra?
Has anyone put a vitata tank in their sierra? Does it fit ok? Did anything have to be modified?
Im putting a g13b into my sierra and I need the electric fuel pump!

I've done a few.
This is a modification which requires cutting and welding, along with modification of the fuel filler pipework.
It's a great fit but it's a long way from a bolt in. Here's a couple I've done. I've done a couple in LWB's too, but these are different because there is a lot more room.
These cars have stock rear crossmember (Modified in the case of the grey car, but only to fit a pintle.) and run a new tubular crossmember in front of the tank. They both run body lifts (2") and custom rear shock mounts.
I think the tank still clears the stock shock mount crossmember, but with the build's I've done there was no reason to keep it.

Not possible without a bodylift or body modification as the fuel filler goes over the chassis rail. Exhaust will have to be changed depending how yours is currently set up.
There is a bit of cutting and welding, and its under the car so its not exactly easy access unless you have a hoist or take the body off.
I wouldnt consider it "bolt in" at all or even an easy modifcation, in a SWB it would be alot of stuffing around. Maybe a coily tank would be a better option although they seem to be bloody rare.

Thats a swb efi vit tank. I have the same.
I have a 2" BL.
I cut all mounts off. I wanted it as far back as possible, for diff clearance and as high up as possible.

Made mounts to bolt on as i dont have a welder at home(but have access to one at work) They also bolt into the original holes in the chassis crossmember!
Picture of the exhaust route. Lucky my zorst was mostly to the side. I still did cut it off and mod alittle though.
And because the tank is hard up onto the crossmember. The floor needed alittle massaging to clear the fuel lines/hoses. I am using the standard sierra expansion bottle. Not the vit bottle.
The hose was alittle tricky, a mix of vit/sierra hose with tube hoseclamped together etc..No pics.
And as you can see. I made a guard to go with it all new. I didnt want to damage this tank. I had a rare coily one unguarded. Big mistake..it is dented now..

It's all 2" with extractors, 2 hotdogs, a triple flow and a cat... all of it mounted above the bottom-line of the chassis.
there's quite a bit of head scratching in that exhaust - but the end result is a car with an exhaust volume you can talk over the top of - which is great when using spotters.

It's also solid mounted full length with a flex joint between the first rigid mount and the extractors.
Despite being told how much of a bad idea this was, It's been trouble free, hasn't caused the car to explode/roll over/fall apart or any of the other things that were supposed to happen with a solid mounted exhaust, and it's amazingly quiet. Really, at idle, the loudest thing is the injectors ticking.

I have fitted a LWB Vit tank into my SWB Sierra. Wasnt too bad a job, had to completely cut out the original shock mount/tank mount, fab up a new one, weld it in further forward than the original, then move the exhaust. I have my exhaust exiting just infront of the driver side rear wheel. I found the tank doesnt quite clear the diff pumpkin, but after accidentally jumping the zook over an unseen sand mound, teh pumpkin has nicely massaged its own clearance in the lip of the tank.
