are front and rear diff interchangeable?

Post by Wambat »

hey guys, at first i didn't think so, but now i remember hearing people talk about putting their rear LSD in the front when they lock the back and so on,(mostly patrol owners)

i have a rear diff i took out of my 75 and swamped for another one as it was rooted, and i kept it so i could put a locker in it and put it back in eventually,

so my question is, are they interchangeable, can i put the whole thing in the front? and if so, when i put a locker in it should i put it in the front or put it back in the rear(both diffs are open)

i was planing on down both diffs at once so it wouldn't matter, but if i do do them separately what would you recommend?

also i will be going auto lockers, if that makes any diffrence.
