GU Patrol SWB can be legally registered in qld.

Post by bj on roids »

You can get one, and swap it onto a legal SWB GQ chassis, then get approval for the body swap, and have it blue plated and legal. This is straight from the engineer who does the approval. As long as the body meets ADR's from the date of the chassis construction it is fine.

Can anyone get me a COMPLETE shell?

Why not import one from NZ? It'll be a 2.8 probably but an engine transplant will fix that. And GQ'S can be shipped over ok so a GU won't have any probs.

Righto...after very careful consideration I have decided to help you guys out. Now I hope you realise I wouldn't just do this for anyone you know ;) .

I'm prepared to give you my bank account number so that you may deposit funds for the purchase of a swb GU. I will buy it for you and drive it for a year (only on road of course :D ). You send over all the goody bits for upgrades (Superior gear, turbo etc) and i'll get it fitted for you.
After 12 months I'll bring it over (still in showroom condition :D ).

We exchange a 'handlers' fee of 10% and presto...you have a sparkly GU swb...easy eh?.

Now it's only because i'm a good fairing folk who doesn't drink, smoke, swear, womanise or tell fibs that i'm doing this out of the graciouness of my good will.

All applicants please let me know and i'll limit the offer to the first 10 people who deposit funds. :D

The pricks need you to prove the owner of the vehicle with proof of residence in NZ and future residence in AU don't they?

Yeah, can't just bring one over on holiday. I only bought the shorty as we had planned to move over for work, but have put it off for a while, so buying something more suitable for towing/off road.
We will be buying another when we decide to make the move

Can't comment on the GU SWB but I had a look at the cleanest GQ shorty I have seen yesterday. 1997, 4.2 diesel, all electric, 167000ks, red. The lady bought from her father the original owner I think. Probably bought new here as it has the 12 volt system the same as aussie. Most here are 24 volt. Never been off road, just some towing work. She gave him $9000.00 NZD for it, about $7,400.00 AUD. Jeez you some bloody nice shorty's here. Of Course two diffs & kiwi have'nt been playing in the mud with them either
