Just been reading the rules for TT10 re the chassis.

If you build a Truck out of a LWB Patrol wagon you need chassis to the C pillar But if you build around a Patrol Cab chassis you only need the chassis to go to the B pillar

even though the its the same chassis!!!

Also how can a truck built around a factory chassis dimensions have the same freedoms in suspension as a truck previously built with no limit on chassis widths

Also the chassis rule of 300mm forward from original firewall position how is this measured if the has been a body swap since no originals mounts would have been used and also you can mount your body anywhere on the chassis

The chassis rule on lenghts is going to make everyone build utes or chop up wagons as you would be mad to build a wagon which is a shame as its still cool to see full body type trucks.

Ok, I'll do my best to answer the above which I'll put into points.

1) The main reason behind this is to retain the structural integrity of the vehicle. the LWB vehicles B-pillar is not structural, but there C-pillar is. therefore if chassis was not back to the C-pillar then the strength would be compromised.

I'm not to sure what the question here was but I hope this helps?

2) Chassis width to our knowledge is not really an altered item when building a TTC style vehicle. eg. my new truck has standard width rails. I definitely do not have any restraints in suspension movements.

3) Ok, The chassis used must be 300mm forward of the original firewall position. the body placed on it must also line up with the 300mm rule.

4) The chassis rule is not designed to force people to build anything. They are only guidelines to go off. Just because your chassis is longer does not mean you are not competitive. ie, Nicks Black Betty, Phils GU. Both have a lot of chassis & are capable of winning.

Grandstands also raise the cost of public liability insurance. Well constructed mounds of dirt on the other hand pose no such problems, i would imagine.

Track viewing will be increased in 2010. The extent of this won't be known until the event.

My old man and i had a scaffold business
but mounds of dirt would by more in line with the type of event and have the same effect

great to see it take a new direction, The stories of Un-Family friendly B&S mentality of previous tough truck events is what have always kept us away.

please do away with the stooges that talk all day, and maybe just some info from time to time so people can hear the trucks and enjoy the spectacle, rather then the intrusive cometary of blokes who think people have come to hear them

I only go to TTC so I can listen to Rick and Co... the trucks are just an added bonus

but seriously, I like the commentry, it lets you know whats going on on the different tracks.

Like I said last year Broadcast on FM, then people have the choice to listen or not. People could be sitting back at camp and listen if they like. You would only need a 5 watt system in that valley.

That would be great but i dont want to carry a radio around all day with me. But it would be an added bonus to be able to tune in when back at camp or for competitors doing repairs. The comentary is great and getting better every year. I think early on it was pretty repetitive and got annoying but a think the guys have received enough feedback right here on Outerlimits to understand what people want and dont want.

I like the commentary. There have been some classic comments like "havin a red hot go" and my favorite "staring down the face of reality"

We endeavour to change it each year and Rick does listen to your thoughts and comments and we try to push the commentary in that direction, but everybody has a different opinion of what is good, and we go with a general concensus and that is what we run with. There is a lot more that goes into the commentary, like interviewing drivers/navis, officials, marshals, sponsors anybody that has something of interest to say, and i think that is part of the TTC experience and inter-action of what is going on at the event. The previous owners/promoters of TTC have been happy with what we have done in the past so thats what we do also taking on board what you guys have wanted to hear.
Im sure the commentary this year will be differnet again, so lets see what happens and have a awsome event
