Goondiwindi 400 QLD 2009

Post by digsy »

Hey all

The Goondiwindi 400 is on again on October 16 - 18

A crew of us are coming down from Rockhampton to check out all the action and see some of the wild rigs stretch their legs...

Anyone else making the trek?
It's Round 5 of the AORC so it should be a big one with the top spots putting it all on the line...
Also now with ONE HD coverage by Conflict Films it should be bigger and better than ever!

This should get you excited

Just talking to some of the regulars and there is meant to be a campsite where all the spectators can get amongst the action! We will be leaving late thursday night and getting down there nice and early for a big night of checking out the latest and greatest offroad weaponry to come out of Australia and/or the USA!

Can't wait to check out Gallard going for gold on the aussie "zoo" road... have you seen DUSTED yet? I really really hope that the commentator is back! That guy sounds like a Bloody Legend the way he get's excited!!!

Really I'm just all round excited!!! and only 8 days until the Rocky crew hits the road with the dreams of dust, v8s and flys!!!

Gonna be the craziest race I've witnessed!!!

I will be making the trek and competing in the ARB Old Man Emu Gu ute of Mark lacey from Brisbane. We raced the event last year and are there to go again this year. It is a major event and the final round in the AORC, it is game on for the front runners in the championship. It is a great event to watch and it will shorly get the heart pumping. Competeing in theis type of event is just another world.

That's the go!
You'll have one of the best seats in the house then!!!

It's only 5 days to go now until I'm drooling at trophy trucks and class 8 race rigs at the Goondiwindi Showgrounds!!!!

I though Tufenuf would have been busting up this thread with his Class 8 aspirations?

Yeah Yeah

THAT WAS UNREAL!

The Goondiwindi 400 is something that has to be experienced once in a dirt fiends lifetime!!! The sights, the smells and the noise is something that HAS to be seen in real life!
The speed that some of those Pro Buggys come down Melapunya Run is astonising!

We've got some Helicopter Footage of the Championship and Round winner Shannon Rentsch leaving the helicopter for dead on a high speed section which is over 200KMH!!!!!! in the dirt!!!!

The extreme 4x4 section was impressive with Colin Hunter in his giant killing Jeep taking the win!

Again if you missed out on getting there this event has ONE HD coverage so you will be able to kick back on the lounge and check it out!
Make sure you keep a special eye out for some Rocky Fools with shirts off waving keeping the Competitors entertained!!! You shouldn't miss them!

Again I have HEAPS of photos but I'm really not sure it would do the speed and excitement justice! You gotta check it out next year!!!

Yeh bud, great event. We were very happy to get the Gu across the line this year. It is a very punishing event on a conventional car set up. The dust, soft Island style sand and constant mellon holes keeps you on your toes from start to finish over the 75k's. There is nothing quite like having the chopper follow you whilst are are getting thrown around. We took out Class 8 in 3rd position. Hunter first, Transvent in 2nd. 3 class 8 vehicles broke front diffs, including us, which made the driving a hole lot of fun in 2 whell drive.

Hey Vanbox
No mate I don't know as of yet as the Conflict Film crew must be only just cleaning the gear up now! I'm guessing it will be a few weeks away but I will keep an eye on their website and when I see it come up I will shoot a message up here!

XJsteve.... I'll be there.... but will you! he he
It seems crazy but that was a good run thru that back way down to Gundy! We didn't have any troubles and left the morning of the event and made it there well before the Showgrounds kicked off!
What a absolute pearler of a weekend!

The ol Cartel Crew will be a regular fixture at the Goondiwindi 400 I reckon! And next time we'll bring a few more down too!

Wow!

The bug has bitten hard...

And with great familys like the Taylors involved in offroad racing the sponsors, promotors and spectators alike are really going to get behind these events!

Look at the professional quality of these Youtube clips!!!
This is top shelf work... no wonder they're getting the ONE HD gig at the moment!
Imagine if 4wd comp/winch comp could start working together at this level!!!

Impressive stuff!
