series landrover CW&P set Question

series landrover CW&P set Question
Just wondering if any one can tell me if the CW&P set from a series landrover will fit in a range rover centre with a ARB locker. They look like the same as a original rangy centre but before i pull them i would rather find out if they fit.
Differnces i know of are the coarse spline on the pinion of the series centre as oposed to fine one on rangy.
Apart from that i have no idea. Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers Damo

ok the arb listing list them as the same locker centre but they need a spacing ring and longer bolts. The ring is available from arb and the bolts apparently available from landrover.
MMMMMM 4.7:1 here i come i think:?
Ok next question is does anybody think that there would be a massive step backward with the coarse spline over the fine spline pinion. I would think the axles would still be the weak link.

Thanx for the offer i will keep them in mind but have been givin a set at the moment . If they are that weak i might need them anyway.

I have read up that they recommend to use a four pinion or arb or a detroit carrier with these gears as it is the carrier that is weak alowing the ring gear to ride out on the pinion thus stripping the gears.Micka wrote:Any tire over 33" is going to act as a detonator for those 4.7s, unless you drive it like you're driving Miss Daisy.
Do you think that pegging the diff may help with the weakness of these gear sets?
I only ask as i am on very tight budget as is every one now days and need to gear her for my 35's. And i already have these gears.

The ring gear flange on a 4.7 carrier is in a different spot to a 3.54 carrier. So you either need to use the complete 4.7 centre, or the arb spacer on your 3.54 carriers.UrbanRedneck wrote:ok the arb listing list them as the same locker centre but they need a spacing ring and longer bolts. They are weak - mainly because of the fine 10-tooth pinion. However, Snarba on here has been running 4.7s on his play rig with huge rubber, and Mick Garner ran them on his comp truck with 35's - I think he broke a few, but I think the front was saved by stock RRC CVs/stubs.
I have broken one on the front of my IIA - with a naturally asthmatic 2.25 Diesel and 32s... I have had another fail on a different vehicle because the threaded section of the pinion snapped off, and the diff locked up.
