what kind of courier do you have?

i have a 2005 courier dual cad 4x4 that's about to get 2" suspension lift, bullbar, steps, rails and scrub bars, snorkel and 31's.

Shortly after that i will be fitting drawers and dual battery system in the tub. Oh and i have a flexiglass canopy covering the tub.

Just fitted a uniden uhf too. Needing to get a centre console (floor) made though.

I got an 06 courier.. with none of the extras (flares, electric windows, chrome etc etc)

So it has heaps of modification potential :D

So far i have done no mods except from home made some dogdey mud flaps. As the stupid plastic one broke off in the sand.

I have finally saved up enough money to get some new rims and tires. which im lookin at getting soon.

plus some tinting, i dono if i should get colored tint just to stand out... still thinking about that haha

then change the suspension (it rides mega rough atm)

body lift could be an option down the track.. i have seen sum couriers with body lifts, altho mine has airbags.. but im pretty sure these guys would have had air bags too. so still looking into that.

oh and an arb bull bar

are the uniden UHFs any good? i was loooking at a gme.. but not sure..

My 05 Courier is the same, and it doesn't have any airbags either so nothing to worry about there.

Don't get colour tint, it looks shit and mirror tint is illegal in most states. I have tint on mine, 20% on the driver and passenger window and 5% (limo tint) on the rest. Darkest legal for the front two windows is 35%.

The bullbar and snorkel, steps etc i am getting are all TJM. They have done me a good deal.

Have you thought about a suspension lift rather than body lift? What size tyres are you wanting to fit?

For the everyday man, a UHF is a UHF in my belief. Uniden are good, i have had one before. The one i bought has a remote mic, so i can change the channels and the volume etc from the mic. Handy while driving.

dam... i hope my courier is not a rare one with air bags haha... but you can legally disarm them if they were an optional extra and not standard.

mmm yeh i dont want to get ne thing illegal, especially if its going to cause me to get pulled over and then yellow sticked for a bunch of other reasons.

im lookin at getting a snorkel too, my air filter had a fair amount of sand in it after a few trips.

yehh when i upgrade my suspension, that will be with the 2 inch kit. i want to get rancho shocks because they have this new wireless adjusting system which looks really cool. expensive tho

Im looking at getting sum 31's hopefully they dont rub too much

and as fair as UHF radios go, im not going to be using it everyday.. so i guess there is not much need for an awesome one

Rancho shocks hey? I looked at them but it was too much money, ended up going with an Ironman lift kit, $1296 delivered.

I tried some 31's on mine the other day on 15x8 rims. They rubbed at the front on the strap underneath that holds the bottom of the bumper, so with a small chop it would be right. I am just waiting until i get the lift and the bullbar then the 31's will fit under fine.

That's what i thought with the UHF, no need to waste too much money on one!

ah yeh i have been looking at that iron man lift kit too.. are you installing it yourself?
i love the idea of having wireless adjustable suspension.. i aint looked into it much tho.. cos i have to save up mega dollars haha

If they dont fit on the front i can just krank the torsion bars for a bit of lift? i think...

im going to wait to the 4wd show in november to get my UHF... they are ment to have good discounts.

No, won't be fitting it to myself. Have a mate at work who is a mechanic, he might help me but i am shopping around at the moment for someone to fit it.

I will be cranking up the torsion bar on the front of mine.

The 4wd show is here this weekend, spewing i am working most of the weekend though. Hopefully i can get there tomorrow (friday) for the first day, but the bargains will be had on the sunday.

i wouldnt mind having a go at making a custom sports bar.. but i wouldnt know where to start

do we need to change the torsion bars to wind them up? i read if you get a bull bar u need new ones.

is all the cheap stuff on sunday? how come...
let us know if its any good :) i am looking 4d to it!

You don't need to change the torsion bars to wind them up but from what i understand if you wind it up without replacing it with a beefier one, like a rockcrawler or something it will make for a shitty ride and handling. Same as if you add extra weight to the front and don't replace it.

It's meant to be cheaper on the last day, sunday, because a lot of them will want to flog off what they have there so they don't have to lug it home with them again!

oh ok.. mmmm maybe torsion bars would be a good investment... i was kinda thinking of doing the suspension is stages... like changing over the shocks 1st, then torsion bars.. then we i can afford the springs a leafs.. i dono if thats a good idea tho

looks like ill be heading to the 4wd show on the last day.

another question, does your courier have a fuel light? mine doesnt... but it has made me realize u dont really need one haha, its not hard to look on the dash and see u dont have much fuel left.

I would just slowly save up all the money for your suspension gear and then get it all at once. Rather than buying it bit by bit and slowly needing to replace it all at different stages. Do it all in one go then it is all running at the same height and how it was intended. Otherwise you may be in for a shitty ride and handling.

I went to the 4wd show last night, didn't have enough time to look around at everything. Some good stuff there and good prices, it was torture as i didn't really have money to spend. I will be timing it next year so i can buy up and have some money to burn.

Yes, mine has a fuel light, never really get it down that low. Have run out of fuel once though, was sold some shitty diesel.

yehh i went and talk to a guy at the 4wd store the other day and he talked me out of the whole adjustable shocks idea... seen as im not going to be rockcrawling im just going to stick with an Iron Man Kit.

Did you get the Performance kit? cos i do want to get a bull bar eventually but i rarely have stuff in the tray, apart from motorbikes every now and then, and when we go camping.

What sort of stuff did they have at the show? like lift kits and stuff? do you rekon it would be worth waiting for the 4wd show to see if i can get a good deal on the kit?

The guy at the 4wd store thought we could fit 32's or even 33's with a 40mm lift...

as it is now.. i have enough money to buy either a lift kit or a set of tires... im leaning towards the lift at the moment... any advice? haha

mmm maybe i dont have a fuel light :) oh well

I am still waiting for my iron man kit to arrive so i will let you know how i go with it. The rear springs for mine were on back order and were going to be some time before they arrived so the bloke did the rockcrawler brand rear springs (heavy duty) for the same price.

I got the HD springs for constant load in the rear as i will be getting a rear bar made and drawers etc. Plus i tow a boat at times. Less chance of it sagging that way too.

They did have lift kits and other bits and pieces at the show. If i was you i would hold off and wait til the show, try and buy a kit then, you may get a good deal. Buy yourself a performance chip too, they were going cheap.

Buy the lift kit first, then you can get your tyres to fit.

You won't fit 32's or 33's with a 40mm lift. We just did a 2" lift and 31's fitted nicely.

31x12.5's will be good, don't know how well they will fit though. What rims are you going to run? 15x7 or 15x8?

I am getting 15x7 and i am going to run 31x10.5 Pirelli Scorpion AT's, got a good price on them and they seem like a good strong tyre.

Yeah you can chip a courier, is your's a turbo diesel 2.5lt?

My suspension has finally arrived, it's sitting on a small pallet in the back of my ute. The bullbar and steps etc will be ready for install around 21st sept so the TJM shop is going to fit my suspension lift for me then. Can't wait! Once that's done too i will be able to mount my aerial. The UHF is already in a hooked up but thought i wouldn't bother mounting the aerial somewhere else in the meantime while waiting for the bullbar.

Looking at some spotlights at the moment too. Have got some rear facing ones ready to go for the back, looking at a set for sidemounting as work light (55w globes). Then will get some for the bullbar and the roofrack.

I got a 2001 courier 2.5td dual cab. not much in the way of mods yet apart from TJM Bullbar NArva spotties and a uniden UHF. MY suspension is screwed so I'dbe interested to seewhat yours looks like with the 40mm lift. I've also been looking at getting the Ironman Lift kit. I really want more power out of the old four banger too so I guess that would mean snorkel and 2.5 or 3 inch exhaust. What rims are you getting for your new tyres?

Oh and the suspension shop told me that my torsion bars had been completely wound up.....you'd never guess looking at how far it's sagged with the bullbar.

Im looking at the 15x8 rims. but they still might be too small.. i gota check with the 4wd shop.. and ask them if the tires will even fit

yeh mine is a 2.5td.. i thought getting a chip was really expensive?

i wouldnt be able to wait for all those mods too! u should post pics once u have it all done. should look sick

im probably going to look at performance after getting a bit more clearance.. cos not havin much ground clearance has let me down a few times

yeh i heard that u should change ur torsion bars when getting a bull bar.. specially if ur winding them up.

I got a quote from a place a little while again for Tunit brand chip, $1250 delivered, which seems about average for price.

I will post some pics once it's all done, if i can work out how to post them. I am taking some before and after shots.

As i said, i am getting the ironman kit and will be winding the torsion bars up.

Bullbar, snorkel, rails, scrub bars and steps are finally fitted. I have now put on my UHF aerial and am looking at buying some lights.

Ironman suspension lift kit is on and lifted it about 30mm in the front and 60mm in the rear.

Am currently saving for my 31x10.5.15 Pirelli Scorpion AT's which will give it some more lift and enable me to go offroad.

Looking at getting a Tigerz11 winch in the near future as well as custom rear bar with single wheel carrier and double jerry holder, drawer system and fridge.

I have a few work lights to wire up now on the rear and sides and looking for some driving lights, thinking maybe Lightforce 240XGT's.

Need to sit down soon and blank out the rego on my photos so i can display them. All is good though, just need more cash!

Yeah it does look great. Been busy with work and other b/s so when i get some time i will sit down and work out how to put some photos up.

I have done quite a bit to it lately. Need to get my tyres asap as we have a 4wd trip planned for a couple of weeks away. At the moment i am doubting i will have them by then, but fingers crossed.

Very happy with the lift, the torsion bars are wound up. Need to take it back to the place that fitted it and have them check it all, make sure it's all nice and tight.

Can't wait to get the rear bar done, going to cost me about $1700 with a single spare wheel carrier on a swing arm and double jerry holder on another swing arm.

After that will probably be getting lights and having them wired up.

yeh no big rush for pics :) when ever

wat tyres do u have on it atm? im sure they would be able to hold up for one trip.. unless ur planning on doing sum pretty extreme stuff...

where is the rear bar going? do u have a canopy or something?

so the lift is quite noticeable? my mate got a 2" iron man kit for his Navara n u could hardly tell it has been raised.. on the other hand my mates hilux (06 model) had a 2" tough dog and it looked huge

Lights would be sweet.. how many are u planning on getting?

Atm the tyres i have on it are the factory ones, highway shit. No good for any offroad, considering they are getting very close to the wear indicators too. Just booked the car in for next thursday to get the tyres fitted.

What do you mean where is the rear bar going? Yes i do have a canopy. flexiglass number with lift up side windows. The rear bar is a custom job made by a local guy i know, very neat set up, will be mounted to the chassis.

Yes, the lift is noticeable, will be even more so when i get the new tyres. Very noticeable at the back as i had the heavy duty leaf springs fitted as there will be a bit of weigh in the back eventually with rear bar, drawers, fridge etc.

I am planning on getting some lightforce 240 XGT's for the bullbar. I have a set of narva 100amp that i am going to set up hanging from the roof rack pointing out at 30-45 degree angle to light up the sides (worklights or making it easier for seeing into the bushes when driving along) and i have a set of work lamps that i am going to mount to the roof rack on the back as reverse lights with a switch fitted so they can also be operated when the vehicle isn't in reverse.
