Lifting a JK with US arm and spring kits

Post by up2nogood »

Hi guys,
Got a JK 4 door CRD coming at the end of the month, and wanted to see what I can get away with legally.......

Does anyone know if the replacement arm 3"lifts are legal in Aus? Like Teraflex or Full Traction?
Are they legal post engineer report, or just not legal at all?

And while I'm there, are 35's something that requires engineering too?

Thanks!

It will depend on who you speak to and which state you live in.
If the new national modification laws are enforced then 50mm will be the max you can lift it.

Have had a chat to an auto engineer in Sydney. He sees no issue with Land Cruisers and Patrols having 35's, and is willing to consider the 4 door Wrangler for 3" and 35's.

Keep you posted.........

which engineer have you been talking to?

I have a 4 door CRD as well which I have 3.5" RE lift, 35s and am just about to fit a set of bushwackers to cover the tyres then off to see an engineer. Haven't spoken to anyone yet but I don't imagine you'd have any problems. You might have to have 33's listed on the certificate though.

Hmmm.. I have a 5.5' inch longarm kit on the way from the US for my new WJ plan on running 33's on road, I wonder if I will run into any problems? I see plenty of Nissans and toyo's running around on 35's (Gold Coast).

Engineer didn't bat an eyelid at the replacement arms on my 2dr JK - nor the 35" tyres. He didn't like the offset of the aftermarket rims though - busted the limits for extending the track width, so I had to go back to the stock rims.

4.5" lift seems to be the max limit for the JK as the headlights are then at the max height permissible.

Hey Miraz do you no what the max headlight height is? Does it vary for different model vehicle's?
