Hey everyone,
Im putting together a ute with pneumatic flip up lights and have a few questions. I need to have a 12vlt switch in cab, on / off / on (up / off / down) Cant remember the switches need to make it all work
i got the rams setup with in line regs, so it doesnt have a hard bang when going up or down. Just need the main switch blocks.
Anyone hae flip up lights and can show a few pics of your setup?
mainly need pics of the switching blocks. or the drawing on the front of them.
Thanks James
gday james i have been rollin this idea round in my head for a while now but im not mechnicly minded enough to make it all work. im stuck at the rams. everythin else is all but sorted would you be able to post some more info an possibly some pictures?
personally i wouldn't involve electrics, most pneumatic stuff is 24v anyway - although not all.
You can get mechanical toggle valves, i have a couple - 1 supply line, 2 lines to cylinder and 2 exhaust port (to dump gas from unpressurised side of cylinder)
You only need 4mm hose, most manufacturers make the valve,
Just got to get the correct stroke ram. 50mm stroke x 20mm bore should be heaps. It's just how you mount the ram to get the correct movement.
For the pivot setup you could just weld short pieces of pipe on the sides and use a long piece of pipe that fits into the side pieces to mount the lights off. You will have to fit the long piece into the two short pieces before you weld them otherwise you won't get it in.

Those last pics look a bit of overkill. Why do you need 2 rams. One should work fine if setup properly. Very expensive way of doing it. You can mount the ram on the roll bar that goes back to the tray. If the piviot is on ball bearings it will only need one ram.

It's designed to be a bolt on solution which takes up as little space as possible.
Go ahead use one ram then, see how easily you can pull the lights back. Even with 2x 20mm bore rams on there and at 150psi air system you can still overpower the rams and pull the light bar back if you try hard enough......takes a bit of effort to do it so if you only had one ram then it would be half as hard to do.
