This is a general question, not just 4b related, but would 2 engine stands be enough to hold a EH holden ute as a rottisery, if so what size would be best.

I have no idea how much a striped down shell weighs. But for around $200 each or build one for aroud $500 worth of steel and all th hard work is done.

Any and all thoughs would help :cool:

My old man built one for his datto 240Z and just made a frame that bolted to the brackets that mounted the bumpers.
He bult it out of 1" tube and it held the weight no problems.
Cost him bugger all as he used mainly scrap.

I had a HQ Monaro ( coupe ) on a rotisserie made from two engine stands . I would suggest if you can make them a little wider for a bit more stability . If your handy with a welder just make something up . A stripped down shell dosen"t weigh too much , we moved the monaro with 5 guys .

If you do use 2 engine stands just make sure they are high enough to actually let the body rotate..... also be a bit careful to have the rotational axis of the stands close to the longditudinal centre of gravity of the body. This is so that it doesn't "flip" to quickly...

ive built one using most of thhis guys ideas works great with a cortina wagon on it even with sususpension and diffs it held it fine

total cost still ends up around 500bux but to buy all the steel to start from scratch would cost more not to mention casters to wheel it around are expensive

I did think of that buit everyone was mentioning empty shells etc.

your not gonna use one for a complete car only for a bare shell when doing a full restoration or rebuild so its easier too weld and modify the undercarriage
