hub rebuild

Post by barnsy »

hey guys
just finishing up the hub rebuild on my 88 solid axle lux.
the housing where the cv sits and the swivel hub bearings run is this space just filled with grease? or should it be filled with oil. ive been told many things, that it should be filled with oil, that it should be filled with a really thin nearly runny grease. and am unsure as it does seem to have a filler hole at the top and in my manual it calls the hub seals oil seals not grease seals.
cheers sam

The knuckle should be 3/4 full of moly grease, according to the FSM.

If its full of runny grease or oil, your axle seals are buggered.
