I have a 97 Disco with 3" coils and 2" shocks mismatched in rear front is ok.I asked for 2" setup. I haved fixed the problem of the rear shocks being too short by welding another eye on the top of the shock i now get some down travel. My drama is that on up travel I still rub on my flares. A note to those thinkn of fiberglass flares DON'T :!:
Can anyone tell me what coil and shock set up works well? I want it for bush use good travel comfy ride handling minimal towing. I forgot to mention I run 35's. Cheers fellas

re your shocks, can you use a gq shock in the rear to gain more travel and a 80 series shock upfront (same as a defender does, you have pin and eye in the rear so have to buy a pin to eye converter for the bottom) to gain more travel, most 'off the shelf' 2" or 3" lifts i've seen actually lose overall travel compared to stock, the shock may be 30-40mm longer extended but is 60, 70mm etc longer compressed too, do you have 'flexi coils' in the rear.

have you chopped your guards as much as possible?

you need a body lift to clear the tyres properly

Cause they break as soon as a bee flies into them!

On an offroad vehicle, fibreglass flares that cost $$$ dont belong.

you need a body lift to clear the tyres properly

you need a 2 inch body lift and you need extended bump stops the same length as the extensions you have put on the shocks or you will break the shocks.
The only real way to get more actual travel reliably in the suspension is to move the shock mounts apart by the same amount as the shock is longer ie move the top mount up which you can do with a body lift or move the lower mount down or both.

Sorry fellas forgot to mention i have a 50mm body lift in and the flares sit just a poofteenth below the body indent line that runs from front to back. Where it rubs (tears flares) is the rear quarter flare at the bottom up to and including to about 5 or 6" of the f:bad-words:n thing.
The springs are lovells and the shocks are ironman. I know I'll probly the you get what you pay for, but I was recovering from a car acco and there isnt alot of $ laying around after you are laid up for a while.
