ive made some 2 inch extended shackles and was wondering if the old shackle bolts are removeable from the plates in the standard front of a cruiser. or is it easier to leave them incase my foolproof plan* doesnt work and just get new bolts.

sorry, dont know about bolts on cruiser but do know not removeable on hilux.

how did you make your extended shackles? just thick plate with centre or otherwise bracing, non geaseable.
and how do this compare to suspension lift as was thinking of buying extended (wanted to get greaseables all round) shackles for my middy?

hi fellers , the bolts a removable from the plates . i made mine out of 50/8 mm spring steel , un treated . just drilled the holes the same size as the bolt witch are 18mm on 2 plates and 14mm on the others , pressed the pins back into the new plates all done ,

yeah just used thick flat steel. i think its 50mmx8mm, gonna weld box tub in the middle to strengthen it.
in vic extended shackles are illegal on the rears from my interpretation of vicroads website. can be engineered on the front upto 2 inch.
i was thinking of leaving the standard ones incase my plan dont work but i think shackles are the least of my problem at the moment if i get busted.
reason for shackles: i put longer shocks on and need a little more lift and more drop. reseting springs wont give this. plus if i do go the SPOA option i want to keep my flat springs.

so extended shackles will retain characteristics of springs, just higher?
i too would prefer to keep flat springs seem to work well, and i guess because this would be cheaper too
