Oh oh- we've been sprung taking the p***!

I've seen some heated discussions on another Daihatsu forum over that white Terios with the bodykit- the owner got quite upset.

It was a very funny thread.

I've always lived here and there, always jumping around between the 2 countries. I was working there for a while until recently...

Anyway, when I'm not living there I go there on holidays annually so I can use the transportation

Hi people

I had a Rocky in 1993, very nice 4WD... I liked to go fishing to up north, exit the highway to the mid of desert, climb dead sand big hills, and reaching the beach...oh goood times.

in 1998 we drove the terios, and we liked it very much.
You are right guys... terios is not a Rocky (I had the 2.8 DL Turbo) and obviously it was more wilder than the Terios.

But a feroza... come on people! Feroza engine power is almost the same as Terios K3-VE engine (not to mention the turbo itnercooler one); and by the other hand, Feroza also had the same 4wd system Terios uses now (yeah, the Full Time 4wd with center diff lock). Daihatsu people designed the terios as a new and modern version of the feroza... new monocoque body, built in chassis, nice mechanical (DAIHATSU CARS ARE GOOD!), Rocky´s same suspension, but more estetically updated to times and less wider (By theway, original Rocky had 1.55m wide, same as terios)...
so Terios isn´t pussy!
I drove the terios on and off road and I really liked it, and drove it again in July 2000 as a test drive. I really liked the car.

Of course your cars are prepared 4wd off-roaders.

The white terios is the aero version of the terios... as same as Toyota madewith 4Runners (Hilux Surf), Nissan with Terranos, MMC with Challengers... those cars are good Off-Roaders but in "low down" version.

Hi Saxas, welcome.

You're not from Australia are you? The Feroza four wheel drive system over here was only part time with low and high range 4WD- I'm not sure if we even got auto hubs? So it's totally different to the Terios' system with full time 4WD and no low range. We also don't get the intercooled turbo version of the Terios- what are the specs on it, it sounds interesting?

The white Terios with the bodykit is an Australian one from memory and the guy has fitted an aftermarket kit- it's not a factory kit from the info I remember reading. Was it available overseas from Daihatsu?

I guess you find most of the Feroza owners here wouldn't buy a Terios and consider it a totally different kettle of fish- not the new improved version of the Feroza. A friend had one and it seemed a lot smaller than the Feroza, and no where near as strongly built.

Has anyone actually got pics of a modded Terios with larger off road tyres, suspension lift etc?

Murcod... I heard (from Saxas) that some countries got a permanent 4x4 Feroza with central diff-lock... also ground clearance on the Feroza was 195mm, same as the Terios.

What lets it down is gearing alone... being so narrow isn't so bad... the Terios can take a surprising lateral ramp although you wouldn't feel too comfortable doing it! ;)

As for the the white terios... it's a Terios Aero... limited edition... it "came like that" from factory if I'm not mistaken... only ever seen them as available in Australia although Japan probably got it too... but Saxas is "the man" when it comes to Daihatsu knowledge :)

Hi

Well, Maybe the Full-Time Feroza never arrived Australian lands.

The white terios is original from japan, it´s not with aftermarket parts.
Daihatsu produces 4 versions of terios. 2 kids (normal and aero) and the Terios we all know (normal, aero-down, and TURBO). Turbo specs are
1300cc
4cyl 16V DOHC DVVT Turbo Intercooler
140PS(103kw)/6400rpm
177Nm(18kgm)/3200rpm

The Terios Aero Down is still available for outside japan. Europe had some (UK)

Oh God, It would be good for next Terios to have Full Time 4WD with HI-LO
OH YES! It exists guys.... the Daihatsu SP4 concept had it so maybe they will apply for next terios.

Interesting info Wavecult, I didn't know the kit was available from Daihatsu here. I've never noticed any Terios's in Adelaide that look like that.

That turbo Terios sounds like it would go well- a bit more boost and it would be very quick.

Andy, I'll try and find the thread- I think it was on Daihard?
