Jesus. could you be any more vague?

For what purpose - touring or wheeling
Who's doing the work - you or someone who knows what they're doing
Rego - do you want it driveable in your state or is it going to be a trailer queen

When you say "work" what do you mean? will it manage to drive up the driveway? - of course it will

But will it handle off road, on road, be legal, stay in one piece? fark knows depends on so many variables it's not funny.

But yes the short answer is it's been done before. Would you like to buy a comma, full stop, question mark, a dictionary and a spell checker by the way?

From what I can deciphyer (and I deserve a friggin nobel peace prize or something if it's correct) is he wants to cut all the suspension mounts and assorted bits off the 80 series chassis, and use them on the 40. Then use lifted 80 series suspension which will raise the height. And of course make it coil sprung.

But, yeah. Bit early for school holidays I thought

well that explains a lot
but seriously

far better option would be to shorten the 80 series chassis and fit the 40 series tub with new body mounts
this would end up far more able to be engineered and be heaps stronger

the main problem is getting the suspension geometry correct this would be a no brainer if you just shorten the 80 in between the axles (all suspension pick up points)

in saying that u could fit the 80 series diffs etc into the 40 chassis but it would not be as simple as chopping the mounts off and welding them in
the 80 series and 40 series chassis's are very diferent shapes.
Custom brackets would be required also a lot of skill and engineering to make the geometry correct so it would drive well, then maybe if u are lucky get complied.

depends where ya from.
if you stick a 40 body on a 80 chassis, 80 is alot newer. all of a sudden the vehicle has to comply to alot more rules and regs.
a 60 chassis isnt a bad option.

perhaps thought you wouldnt cop so much crap if you searched abit more, and looked through the members section.

i think bj is becoming bitter in his old age. hes still cranky he was born a ranga! :finger:

ITS NOT A TEXT MESSAGE.

You have up to 10,000 characters to properly present yourself and ask a question.

For someone who cannot type a decent sentence, I still beleive you will struggle to do what you originally wanted. So, NO, not possible.

Having said that though, YES, I have done it, amazing huh!
