GU Patrol Dualcab registered as an ICV?

Hi guys, Just wondering if someone with a bit more knowledge than me could answer some questions?



Has anyone registered a Dualcab Chopped patrol as an ICV? As it seems an ICV can have bigger tyres and a reasonable lift written up as standard fitment?



Therefore making say a 5" Lift and 35's legal.



ICVs built with

production vehicle body

shells

A monocoque body shell from a production passenger car (MA category)

will not be considered as the basis for an ICV unless:

· the body is fitted to a separate chassis resulting in a change of

category to MC or NA - for example, a Holden Commodore station

wagon body fitted to a Toyota Landcruiser chassis and suspension,

or

· the body is substantially modified so that it no longer is recognisable

as the original vehicle or a production variant – for example, a four

door sedan cut into a two door utility.







The 2nd point, four door sedan cut into a ute, would this count also on a 4 door wagon cut into a 4 door ute? It was never released in a dualcab ute, so it could possibly be engineered as an ICV yes?



Therefore my 5" Lift and 35's become standard fitment?



Ive read through the the data on QLD Transport about ICV's and i cant see anywhere that it says i cant do this?



Only thing itll do is possibly make my insurance more expensive, but im used to that, HSV when i was 18 cost over $2500 a year to insure.



Any info from anyone would be great, Do we have any engineers on this forum?

bru is the guy to talk too about ICV he is currently building an ICV buggy.

I don't believe you can just modify a vehicle to suddenly make it an ICV and magically get past modification laws. I think it needs to be beasically an Individually Constructed Vehicle (ICV) soething pretty much started from scratch or a kit vehicle

x eleventy, or every Tuff Truck would be ICV

A mate at work recently went though all the hoops to try and get a Eureka (fibreglass body on VW chassis) registered, tried every way of doing it for a year but kept having red tape thrown at him no matter what he did. In the end he had to give up and get it on the road with restrictive club plates. Ie getting ICV's etc is not as easy as it sounds.

That sounds strange, unless he was doing something out of the ordinary with it, they are everywhere and there are plenty registered already

For the money its going to cost me to get it legal, i might as well just put the truck back to standard and buy a bigger boat so i dont have to keep stealing the old mans haha.

I can modify basically anything i want on my boat without so much as a blink from the authorities. So long as it is registered they dont seem to care what gets done.

Wish i could talk the missus into moving to VIC, but thats never gonna happen. Oh well, after 4wd Action shoot ill look into putting the truck back to standard.

Now that im going to start doing some towing when i start building my comp truck, i cant have the chance of having insurance wiped for illegal mods to truck.

Im not arguing this point, In the other topic i stated that i put it in nissan, then though that its not really nissan specific, i wanted to know of any brand that someone had registered as ICV so i posted this in general.

But i cannot delete the other topic as im not a moderator.

This is about my only option.

But i think for the $$$ im going to buy something better on fuel to get to work, and build a trailer queen to play a bit more serious in the bush.
