6.2L OF DIESEL HEADACHE!

Post by fatassgq »

Well I have gone and done it now!!!
I put a deposit on a 6.2l diesel motor last night!
I plan (is plan a useless word here??!) to put it infront of the 5 speed in the patrol.

V8diesel I need ya! lol
The motor used to be the one out of linquips mav apparently. It got a full rebuild about 10k ago and the dude who bought it off linquip sold his truck. This guy then wrote the truck off so the motor was worth more than the truck and he is selling it! (To make a short story long!)

Looks ok but that means shit. He is an older fella and seemed trustworthy and said if there was any drama he would be nice!

Problem is I don't really know what I am looking at as far as what year it is etc.
The motor has exhaust manifolds and balancer and pullies and all fuel items. Just needs powersteer brackets, ac brkts, alternator brkts. I think.

Is there anything I should look for as I have only put deposit on at this stage. I have heard the balancers can be a prob? The problem is I can not get it compression tested etc cause it is sitting in a shed! I am 90% sure that it is not electronic injector pump.

Can you set up just a normal cav type filter on these things to get rid of the filter behind the aircleaner case?

Any help appreciated as he is spose to deliver it on Sunday!

Brunswick fit a CAV style fuel filter as standard. They also supply three row pulleys in a set. (water pump & harmonic balancer).

Give Scotty at Brunswick a ring, usually very helpful.
