Gq cooling queries

It was this weekendi went away which involved driving up the Reefton spur (in Victoria for those playing at home) while towing 2 motorbikes and all the gear. I had to stop half way up to let her cool down. The radiator is less than a year old and I replaced the coolant and thermostat last week. Want to know what others have do e or what I can do to keep it cool. I've been told to put on a bonnet scoop on it and that suck the heat out!

yea im looking at getting a scoop for my SWB with TB42 aswell, i havent had an overheating problem as such yet, but it hasnt been on a big drive since i've had it, its just to get rid of the heat cause it seems to sit under the bonnet and i can feel it in the cab after a few minutes. my mate had the same problem, he just put a scoop on it was fine after that. not sure what else is out there to fix the problem though

sazzle whats your viscous coupling like? and do you still have a fan shroud on?

try a new radiator cap.

Viscious coupling is all good. Spins fine with no play and yeah I still have the shroud. The radiator cap should be fine as it's less than q year old but I will have a look

this does not mean its fine

can you hear the couplink working?
when you start the truck up cold, it should be VERY loud, then it shoudl quieten down
as the truck warms up, it shoudl get very loud again, at half temp all you should hear from the engine bay is fan noise.

so if this does not sound like your truck, replace the coupling with a new one.
